Nitro comes on the air with footage of Spike Dudley nearly getting broken in half by Lex Luger on Thunder. We then go to the back where Mike Tenay is with trainer Michael Martin. Tenay: Michael, can we have an update on Spike Dudley after being in the Rack for nearly two minutes on Thunder. Martin: Spike has a pulled muscle in his back that will keep him out at least a week. EMT's and I both agree that Spike should stay out of action for at least a month with that injury. However Spike has told me that he will be at Fall Brawl. Tenay: Thank you Michael. Right now we are going to go right to action where The Young Blood will be facing Too Cool Too Cool came up short against the hot team of Knoble and Johnny. Early on both teams made quick tags and kept the fresh man in. Christopher however was soon focused on by JTB. Knoble hit his Jumping Piledriver but Taylor broke it up. Knoble went for a flying bodyblock but Christopher moved. Both men made tags and things heated up. Taylor had JTB set up for the Worm when Knoble hit a flying neckbreaker. Christopher was then backdropped to the floor. Moments later the Young Blood got the win with the Too Young to Die legdrop/backbreaker combo.
The Young Blood defeated Too Cool when Johnny the Bull
pinned Taylor after the Too Young to Die in 0:07:31. Hudson: Welcome to Nitro everyone. Tonight we have a huge main event. Cyrus: Huge is right. We see a preview of Wargames as The Dudley's team up with The King to take on The Undertaker, Ric Flair and Lex Luger. Hudson: Also the youngster Lash LeRoux will take on Lance Storm for the Cruiserweight title. Cyrus: The TV Champion William Regal takes on former World champion Booker T. Rhino, the next World Champion, takes on Owen Hart as well. Hudson: I am getting word that something is going on in the back. We go to the back and see the FBI outside Dusty Rhodes office. Guido: What are you doing here? Mamaluke: I am here to talk to Dusty, what about you? Guido: What do you think you mamaluke. The two walk in and Dusty looks up. Guido: Dusty, I want a match at Fall Brawl against Sting. All the other big names are booked and Sting has to defend that US title so I want to be his opponent. I am a former TV Champion and I know I can beat him. Mamaluke: Hey, that is what I was coming to ask for. I mean I am one of the longest reigning Cruiserweight champions in recent history. Guido: You, you are nothing but a lightweight. Dusty: Enough you two. Tonight we will have a triple threat match. You two taking on Sting. If either of you win you will go onto Fall Brawl to take on Sting for the US Title. If Sting wins he gets to pick who he faces. Now get out of my office I have better things to do. We go to break bearing Guido and Mamaluke still arguing. After the break we see DDP in the ring against Big Vito. For the first time since in sometime DDP comes to ringside with his wife Kimberly. Vito tried hard to keep DDP on his winning streak but there is a new fire within DDP. Vito did his DDT but Page wouldn't stay down. Vito went for a lariat but DDP floated over and hit the Diamond Cutter out of nowhere for the win. After the match DDP took the mic.
Diamond Dallas Page pinned Big Vito with the Diamond
Cutter in 0:08:10. DDP: KANYON!! I know you are in the back watching. YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT COMING! You want to take my wife. You say I held you back. If it wasn't for me you would still be wearing that god damn Mortis mask. Kanyon, we are going to face off on Fall Brawl but let's make it interesting. Do you remember when Mike Awesome took your worthless ass and threw you off the Triple Cage? Well at Fall Brawl we are going to see a replay as we go into that triple cage. Kanyon, YOU WILL FEEL-----MY------BANG!!!! As DDP and Kimberly headed to the back. Before going through the curtain he turned around and gave the crowd the Diamond Cutter sign. This allowed Kanyon to come out and attack DDP. He gave Page the Kanyon Cutter and then threw him off the stage. Hudson: OH MY, DDP IS BROKEN IN HALF!! Cyrus: Now that is what we like to see. Did you see DDP's head bounce off the pavement? Hudson: You are sick Cyrus. Here comes the EMT's. Oh my look at Kimberly. We see EMT's, trainer Michael Martin and Gene Bennett all out checking on DDP. Gene helps Kimberly to the back as the rest load DDP into the ambulance. After the break we see Gene helping Kimberly into a cab. We then go to the ring where the Andersons are taking on Ray Traylor and Steve Blackman. Traylor and Blackman didn't have the teamwork they usual had in the past. C.W. and Arn took advantage of that. Traylor was soon singled out in the ring. He was about to make the tag when Steve Blackman left. Moments later Traylor took a Double DDT from the Anderson for the win.
The Andersons defeated Ray Traylor and Steve Blackman
when C.W. Anderson pinned Traylor after the Double DDT in 0:05:31. Cyrus: Everything is going down hill. We lose C.W. and now it seems the WCW is falling apart, which is good. Hudson: Folks, I just got word from the hospital that DDP has at least a concussion. They are having his neck and back x-rayed as well. What makes me sick is the way you laughed Cyrus. Cyrus: It was great. I love to see WCW fighting amongst yourselves. Hudson: Right now let's go to the back where Terry Taylor is with Shane Douglas and Chris Candido. Taylor: Shane, tonight you and Chris go for the tag team titles against Bill DeMott and Scott Steiner. Douglas: Shut the hell up jackass. Tonight the Triple Threat and ECW get more gold. Tonight those two freaks get their asses FRANCHISED! THAT'S A FACT, THAT'S A FACT, THAT'S A FACT JACKASS!!!! Taylor: Up next tag team title action. About four minutes into the match it looked like the Triple Threat won. During the match Cyrus left the announce table. The official was putting Steiner out of the ring when Cyrus tossed a chair to DeMott. Candido then hit a missile dropkick into the chair. Candido then made the cover. From the back Gene Bennett convinced official Nick Patrick to restart the match. Steiner and DeMott ended up hitting the Super Frankensteiner followed by the Moonsault for the win. Cyrus hit the ring and attack the men and Gene followed setting off a six man brawl. ECW quickly bailed and Gene grabbed the mic.
Bill DeMott and Scott Steiner defeated The Triple
Threat (Chris Candido and Shane Douglas) when DeMott pinned Candido
after a moonsault in 0:08:47. Bennett: CYRUS! YOU SON OF A BITCH! You want to interfere in matches. We don't have to wait until Fall Brawl to fight. WE CAN DO IT RIGHT NOW!! Cyrus: Didn't you get enough last time we were in the ring together? Ok fat ass, we will call you Joel Gertner for tonight. Cyrus tears off his 'headset' and charges the ring. In what wasn't a great match up WCW's Gene Bennett picked up the win. Cyrus seemed ready to win when he went for a flying elbow. Bennett moved and Cyrus hit the mat. Bennett then hit a running shoulderbreaker. Bennett quickly locks in a Cross Face Chicken Wing for the submission win. From the back the Dudley's run out but Gene rolls out of the ring before hand.
Gene Bennett made Cyrus submit to the Cross Face
Chicken Wing in 0:04:17. Hudson: Well I am flying solo right now. I guess Mike Tenay is with William Regal. Tenay: William Regal, you are quickly becoming the most successful TV champion in recent history. Tonight however will be one of your toughest challenges in Booker T. Regal: Well Mr. Tenay Booker T is a great athlete. However this title is very important to me. I am a fighting champion and will take on anybody anytime. Just then Chris Candido and Shane Douglas walk by. Douglas: So you will fight anyone anytime huh Regal? Regal: That is what I said sunshine. Douglas: Well I am open at Fall Brawl, how about I win back MY title there. Regal: You got you miserable little toe rag. Now bugger off, go on bugger. Regal then heads toward the ring and we go to break. Regal retained his TV title in a hard fought match. Booker T looked to be back into his old mindset as he looked to be on the road to becoming TV champion once again. However Regal wouldn't go down without a fight. Regal moved out of the way from a Harlem Hangover attempt and locked in the Regal Stretch. Booker fought back and hit the Ax Kick and was about to hit the Book End when Regal hit a back elbow. He then floated around and hit the Cobra Neckbreaker for the win. From the back the Dudley's, Chris Candido and Shane Douglas hit the ring. Booker T took the 3D while Regal was given the Franchiser followed by Candido's Flying Headbutt.
William Regal pinned Booker T with the Cobra
Neckbreaker in 0:09:09. Hudson: I am now joined by Mike Tenay who is filling in for Cyrus. Mike, we have just seen two of WCW's top wrestlers laid out by ECW. Tenay: Well William and Booker T are both going to come back from that. These attacks might knock them down but it won't keep them down. Hudson: Well Mike when we come back it will be Lash LeRoux challenging for the Cruiserweight title as he takes on Lance Storm. Lash came close to becoming the Cruiserweight champion in this match. Lash hit the Whiplash 2000 out of nowhere for the closest two count possible. Lash's music even played. Storm however knew he kicked out and went after Lash's knee with a dropkick. Storm then hit a flying legdrop before locking in the Maple Leaf for the submission win.
Lance Storm made Lash LeRoux submit to the Maple Leaf
in 0:06:38. Hudson: I thought for sure that Lash had the title after the Whiplash 2000 Mike. Tenay: Lash's win lose record isn't real good but his in ring performance speaks a different story. He is always competitive and is just a few steps away from being a major star. We then go to the back where Kanyon is sitting in the locker room when Jeff Jarrett comes in. Kanyon: Hey Champ, I got a bone to pick with you. Jarrett: What in the world do you want Kanyon? Kanyon: Well you see, I am a three time, three time, three time World Champion and I want it back. Jarrett: You aren't even close to being a three time champion. Hell you aren't even a three time loser in championship bouts. Kanyon: Well how about I become a one time, one time, one time champion. Jeff, you will FEEL---MY---BANG!!! Jarrett: Whatever slappy. Jarrett turns to leave and Kanyon attacks him. He gives him the Flatliner as we go to break. After the break we see the trainer Michael Martin checking on Jeff Jarrett. He is bleeding from a cut above his eye. We then see Owen Hart entering ECW's locker room. Owen: Rhino, get your ass out her----- Rhino attacks from behind and we see the official come in and our Hardcore match begins. Rhino works over Owen tossing him around like a rag down. Owen gets hiptossed into the lockers knocking the door right off. Rhino then went for a piledriver but Owen hit a low blow. Owen then hit a spin kick knocking Rhino through the door. In the hall we see The Dudley's getting a cup of coffee. Owen throw's Rhino over the table spilling coffee. The Dudley's get upset and attack Owen giving him the back suplex version of 3D. Booker T then charges down the hall with a chair. Rhino recovers and locks in the Rhino Recliner for the win.
No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match: Tenay: Owen could be seriously hurt after taking that 3D version on the floor in the back. Hudson: All because Owen tipped over the coffee table, that makes me sick. The trainer can't even check on Owen because he is still checking Jeff Jarrett after Kanyon gave him the Flatliner in the locker room. Things are going crazy. We go to the back and see the trainer talking to Jarrett. Martin: Listen Jeff, that cut should get stitches and you have a concussion. I can't clear you to wrestle. Jarrett: Listen here slappy, I am going to wrestle tonight. Even though Rhino has my belt I am the World Champion and I am dodging anyone. So clear me. Martin: Ok Jeff, if that is what you want. We then go to break. After the break we see Sting taking on Tony Mamaluke and Little Guido Maritato. Little Guido is heading to Fall Brawl to take on Sting for the US Title. The match was a true triple threat as everyone fought everyone. Guido and Mamaluke really went after each other. Guido want for the Kiss of Death but Mamaluke shoved him into the corner. Mamaluke then clipped Guido followed by his Guillotine Legdrop. Sting took advantage and hit the Scorpion Death Drop on Mamaluke to get the win. Sting went for the Scorpion Death Lock on Guido but he countered with a small package for a near fall. Sting sent Guido into the corner and charged with the Stinger Splash but Guido moved and Sting hit the post. Guido quickly hit the Kiss of Death for the win.
No-Countout-No-DQ-3-Man Battle Royal: Hudson: What a match Sting and Little Guido are going to have at Fall Brawl. Guido is one of the best in the company and I think he will push Sting to the limit. Tenay: You are right there Scott. Guido is a former TV Champion and I hate to say it I think he will be the US Champion at Fall Brawl. Hudson: When we come back it will be one half of our now double main event as Kanyon challenges for the World Title as he takes on Jeff Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett retained his title in a hard match for him. Early on his head was cut open again. Kanyon hit a super Samoan drop for a near fall. He then hit the Flatliner for a near fall. Kanyon began to get frustrated. He went for a slingshot rocker dropper but Jarrett countered into a powerbomb. Jarrett then went to work on Kanyon. Kanyon however came back with a low blow. He went for the Kanyon Cutter but Jarrett shoved him into the corner. He then hit the Stroke for the win.
Jeff Jarrett pinned Kanyon with the Stroke in 0:06:07. Hudson: That was a hard fought match for our champion Jeff Jarrett. The ring is covered in his blood Mike. Tenay: Kanyon nearly did become the one time, one time, one time champion in that match. Kanyon gave Jeff everything he had but Jeff was too much on this night. Kanyon however will be back. Hudson: That is if he survives the Triple Cage match at Fall Brawl with DDP. Tenay: When we come back it will be our six man tag team main event. WCW's team got the win in this hard hitting match. Flair was worked over a lot of the match by all six men. Lawler hit his Piledriver but unlike at Massacre on 34th Street Flair was able to kick out. Ric made the tag to Luger who came in like a house of fire. He hit all three men with his Bionic Forearm and tagged in the Undertaker. Taker hit a chokeslam on all three men and tagged back in Flair. Flair grabbed D-Von and locked in the Figure Four Leglock for the win.
Ric Flair, Lex Luger and The Undertaker defeated The
Dudley Boys and Jerry Lawler when Flair pinned D-Von Dudley with the
Figure-Four Leglock in 0:09:15. Hudson: What a showcase that was. All six men worked hard but WCW came out on top. That's it for Nitro. See you all on Thunder. |
