Nitro comes on the air with footage of Bret Hart getting beat by Spike Dudley. We then go to the announce table where Mark Madden and Scott Hudson are. Hudson: Welcome to Nitro everyone. I am once again joined by Mark Madden. I was told that Gene Bennett will be joining me on Thunder this week. Mark, tonight we have a number one contender's match. Madden: That's right Scott. The footage from the start of the show gave Spike Dudley a slot in the match. William Regal, Scott Steiner, Ric Flair, Big Van Vader, Paul Wight, Bret Hart, Rhino, Sting and Shane Douglas all will get a shot in the match as well. Of course Scott Steiner is the US Champ and Shane Douglas won the Hardcore title on Thunder so there are two champions in the match. I am picking the US Champ to go all the way, what about you Scott? Hudson: Well Scott Steiner is high on the list but then again everyone in the match is a major player. I think that Sting will pull it off. Sting has never had a long run as the champion and he is way over due. Madden: Wait a minute, here comes Disqo. Disqo: Welcome to Monday Night Fever featuring Double G, the Re-Enforcer Disqo! Tonight I know that all you people came to see the Re-Enforcer dance, so hit my music. Instead of his music Cajun music plays as Lash LeRoux comes out for his TV Title match.
Disqo pinned Lash LeRoux with the Last Dance in 0:04:47. This match was short as Disqo really dominated LeRoux. Disqo finished it off with the Last Dance. Hudson: Disqo has held onto that title longer then most people thought Mark. Madden: Well I know Disqo and he will blow it. He is a born loser and he will find a way to flush this down the crapper. Hudson: Let's go to Mean Gene who is with Ray Traylor. Mean: Ray Traylor, a little over a week ago you lost the Hardcore Title. Where do you go from here? Traylor: Listen to me Mean Gene. Do you think you can take the Hardcore out of me? Hell no. I was born Hardcore and will die hardcore. Tonight I have got that fat boy Bill DeMott in a hardcore match. He will find out what Hardcore and hard time is all about!
No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match: In the first of three hardcore matches Steve Blackman defeated Roddy Piper with help from William Regal. Regal, much like he did on Thursday night, cost Piper the match. Regal hit Piper with a chair that knocked him right into the Pump Kick and the win for Steve Blackman. Hudson: William Regal once again cost's Roddy Piper a match. What is Regal's problem? Madden: Well the Boss, Ric Flair, gave William an order to make sure Piper didn't embarrass himself on Thunder. William is taking that to all of Piper's matches. Hudson: That is just stupid Mark. After the break cruiserweight action.
Chris Candido pinned Brian Christopher after a
gutwrench suplex in 0:02:06. In a short, decisive victory Chris Candido defeated Brian Christopher. Brian didn't get much offense in and looked out of short in this match. Candido hit a picture perfect gutwrench suplex for the win.
No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match: After the Triple Threat cost Gangrel the title at Slamboree he took on C.W. in the second of three Hardcore matches on Nitro. This match was in the back almost the entire time. Gangrel tried to jump from the top of a car onto C.W. but it was countered into a Spinebuster and the win. Then from the car Kanyon jumped out and gave C.W. the Kanyon Cutter. He then throws a Mortis mask on him before running off like a maniac. Hudson: Since taking off the mask Kanyon has become some kind of psycho. I thought Terry Taylor knocked him down a notch on Thunder by paying Vader off but guess not. Madden: Kanyon is a great talent and will be a major star. He is a little off balanced but a major star. Hudson: Let's go to Mean Gene who is with Curt Hennig and Double J. Jarrett: Hello Jurassic Slapass. Mean: Don't start with me buddy. I am tired of your crap! Tonight you two will continue to climb the ladder in WCW as you take on Tony Mamaluke and Little Guido, both former champions in WCW. Hennig: Well they might be former champions but tonight they will be PERFECTLY taken care of. Jarrett: The FBI will be nothing but another stepping stone that we take out on our way to The New Hart Foundation and our titles. Now get out of our way slapnut! Mean: Blow it out your ass Jarrett. After the break, the FBI and the Horsemen.
Curt Hennig and Jeff Jarrett defeated FBI (Little
Guido Maritato and Tony Mamaluke) when Jarrett pinned Mamaluke with
his special move in 0:05:50. The FBI came out in force for this match, as did the Horsemen. The in ring action was technical but the outside brawl took away from it. Jarrett picked up the win with his trusty guitar.
No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match: The third hardcore match of the night and this one stayed in the ring. These two have teamed and fought before. The typical weapons were used in the match and the end came when Traylor hit his Traylor Park Trash on a trash can for the win. We then go to the back where Gene Bennett is standing by with Bret Hart. Bennett: Bret, I wasn't scheduled for the show tonight but wanted this interview time. From Scott Hudson, Jaime Knoble, Scott Taylor and everyone else that has fallen victim to Rhino's rage as I call it. Now tonight you will be facing nine other men in the ring for a shot at Booker T and the World Title. Hart: Well I am on a Rhino hunt. Tonight just starts it. Sooner or later Rhino and I will be in the ring one on one. When that happens he will find out why I am the Excellence of Execution. Bennett: Up next the 10 Man match for a shot at Booker T and the World Title.
No-Countout-No-DQ-10-Man Battle Royal: Ten men walked in and the runt of the litter walked out victorious. The man no one though could pull it off did just that. William Regal was the first man eliminated when he was attacked by Roddy Piper setting up the Steiner Recliner. Steiner then took Ric Flair by rolling Flair up when he attempted the Figure Four. Vader took Scott Steiner out when he hit the Vader Bomb. Rhino meanwhile was fighting with Bret Hart the entire time. Rhino whipped Hart into Paul Wight and Wight hit the Showstopper for the elimination. Moments later Wight hit the same thing on Vader to send him to the back. Spike Dudley then took the match over. He leaped to the top rope on a gore in the corner attempt and Rhino hit the post. Rhino was stunned and Spike hit a flying sunset flip from the top for the elimination. He then gave Midajah an Acid Drop. Spike reversed the Scorpion Death Drop into a release northern lights suplex. He hit the Acid Drop on him for the pin. That left the Big Show, Shane Douglas and Spike Dudley. Spike and Shane double-teamed Big Show. Spike hit a missile dropkick that sent Show into a short lariat from Shane that eliminated him. This left Spike and Shane. From the back out came C.W. and Chris Candido. Spike went right after them. He hit an Acid Drop/Bulldog combination on both men. He turned around right into a belly-to-belly suplex. Shane went to the top but was crotched by Spike. Spike then hit a Frankensteiner followed by a flying elbow for the win. Hudson: Spike wins! It will be Spike Dudley and Booker T at The Great American Bash. Madden: I don't believe it. How did Spike defeat the other nine men? Hudson: I don't know Mark but he did. For Gene Bennett, Mean Gene, Mark Madden, I am Scott Hudson. See you at Thunder. |
