Nitro comes on the air with footage from Spring Stampede.  We see pictures of Vader eliminating William Regal to get the title shot at Slamboree.  We also see William Regal holding the US/British title after his win.  We see Scott Steiner pass out to the Rhino Recliner and Shane Douglas win the TV title.  We also see the brawl between the Ministry before going to the announce table.

Hudson:  Welcome to Nitro everyone.  We are fresh off the hottest pay per view in recent history.

Bennett:  Two new champions were crowned at Spring Stampede.  William Regal defeated Big Van Vader in a great match and Shane Douglas became the TV Champion thanks to Disqo.

Hudson:  Well both of those titles are on the line here tonight as is the World Title and tag titles.  Rhino gets his title shot after defeating Scott Steiner and The New Foundation takes on the Hart Foundation.

Bennett:  Also Danny Doring and Roadkill take on Big Van Vader in a handicap match because Vader attack Danny Doring after their Lethal Lottery tag team match.  Disqo and Ric Flair will face off because of what Disqo did to Ric Flair and his friends at Spring Stampede.

Hudson:  we will also have Roddy Piper in action as he debuts on Nitro.  The first match up though is between the remaining Ministry members as Gangrel, Papa Shango, Vampiro, Mortis and Paul Wight all face off in a five way brawl.  Let's get to the ring.

No-Countout-No-DQ-5-Man Battle Royal:
Gangrel won a 5-man Battle Royal:
x Mortis defeated Wight after the Flatliner in 0:10:19
x Vampiro defeated Mortis after a spinebuster slam in 0:11:00
x Gangrel defeated Vampiro after a gutwrench suplex in 0:11:51
x Gangrel defeated Shango in 0:12:10
Rating: **

Gangrel got the win in this match, which was a surprise to everyone.  The first man eliminated was Paul Wight after everyone else in the match attacked him and helped eliminate him.  Next Vamp and Mortis picked up where they left off last night.  The end results were Mortis getting eliminated by Vamp.  Moments later Gangrel got rid of Vamp after Mortis hit him with a chair.  It was then Gangrel and Papa Shango.  Gangrel got the win thanks to his trusty goblet of blood.

Bennett:  A big win for Gangrel here.  Gangrel is perhaps ready to take the next step in his career.

Hudson:  He is a very talented man in the ring and you could be right Gene.  Let's go to the back where Mean Gene is with Owen Hart and Lance Storm.

Mean:  Owen, Lance, moments from now you will be facing Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart for the tag team titles.

Owen:  Mean Gene, tonight we become tag team champions.  We have both held those titles in the past and tonight we become the most dominate team in WCW history.

Lance:  I prove to everyone that I am one of the greatest Canadians ever to step into the ring.  Tonight Owen and I become the champs.

Mean:  Very confident are those two men.  After the break they will be in the ring.

The New Hart Foundation defeated The Hart Foundation when O. Hart made B. Hart submit to the Sharpshooter in 0:07:11.
Rating: ** 3/4
(The New Hart Foundation won the WCW Tag Team Titles.)

We have new tag team champions as Owen Hart and Lance Storm beat the seasoned team of Neidhart and Hart.  The match was back and forth with the end coming from miscommunication by the Hart Foundation.  Neidhart hit Bret with a lariat by accident setting up the Sharpshooter and the submission.

Bennett:  Owen and Lance just went down in history Scott.  There aren't many teams that have a victory over Bret and Jim.

Hudson:  You are right Gene.  This team of Owen and Lance are both powerful and fast.  They could be champions for a long time to come.  After the break it will be Shane Douglas defending his title against Arn Anderson.

Shane Douglas pinned Arn Anderson with the Franchiser in 0:05:10.
Rating: * 3/4
(Shane Douglas retained the WCW TV Title.)

Shane Douglas retained his TV title with help from C.W. Anderson.  The match seemed to be all Arn until his cousin C.W. showed up at ringside.  This distracted Arn enough for Shane to hit the Franchiser and keep the title.  We then go to the back where Mark Madden is with Ric Flair.

Madden:  Ric, tonight you face off with Disqo.

Flair:  Mark Madden, tonight I end Disqo's career.  For a long time people have been trying to get rid of this little bastard, and tonight I do it!  WHOO!

Madden:  Disqo, if I were you, I would just leave the building now.  That match is up next.

Disqo pinned Ric Flair with the Last Dance in 0:10:00.
Rating: ** 1/2

In what might be the biggest upset in WCW history Disqo pinned the 15 time WCW champion.  Flair dominated the match but wouldn't end Disqo's suffering.  Flair finally went to finish Disqo off with the Triple Threat appeared at ringside in the crowd.  This distracted Flair allowing Disqo to recover.  Flair turned around right into a Last Dance from Disqo who fell onto Flair for the win.  This brought the Triple Threat into the ring who attacked both men before leaving.

Bennett:  The Triple Threat seems hell bent on destroying Ric Flair and his friends.

Hudson:  We have seen hundreds try to end Ric's career, I just don't think those three can do it.  Right now I want to talk about Big Van Vader.  What he did to Nick Patrick last night was sick.

Bennett:  You are referring to his attack on Nick.  I am not going to condone what Vader did, but Nick made mistakes too.  A ref can't touch a wrestler and a wrestler can't touch a ref.  Both men made mistakes.

Hudson:  Well Nick Patrick is in the hospital thanks to Vader's mistake, what happened to Vader?

Bennett:  The size of the foul doesn't matter Scott.  Is this a debate or something?

Hudson:  Forget it.  After the break Vader takes on Danny Doring and Roadkill.

Handicap-Match:
Big Van Vader defeated Danny Doring and Roadkill when Vader pinned Roadkill with the Vader Bomb in 0:02:56.
Rating: *

Vader completely destroyed both men in this match before finally making the cover.  The official Scott James then tried to separate Vader from Roadkill and Doring and ended up getting attacked by Vader.  Finally officials and security separated Vader from James.

Bennett:  I am going to go to the ring and get a word with Vader Scott.

Gene leaves the announce table and enters the ring.

Bennett:  Big man, Vader, can I get a minute.

Vader:  What do you want?

Bennett:  Hey, I am on your side.  I wanted to ask a few questions.  First off, who do you want to face at Slamboree?  Booker T or Rhino?

Vader:  I don't give a damn who I face.  I will destroy both of them if I have to.

Bennett:  One more question, for the past two nights you have attacked the ref's, can I ask why?

Vader:  Well it is because I can and they asked me stupid stuff like you.

Vader then attacked the man that brought him into WCW Gene Bennett.  Vader gave Gene a huge Powerbomb followed by a reverse powerbomb and the Vader Bomb before leaving.

Hudson:  We will be right back.  WOULD SOME ONE GET OUT HERE AND HELP GENE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

The Triple Threat (C.W. Anderson and Chris Candido) defeated
Steve Blackman and Brian Christopher when Candido pinned Christopher with the Flying Headbutt in 0:05:24.
Rating: * 1/2

The Triple Threat returned to the ring for a third time here tonight.  Steve Blackman and Brian Christopher were out here to prove a point and I think they did.  They proved that they are a great team but came up just short.  The end saw Candido hit a flying headbutt after a C.W. Spinebuster for the win.

Hudson:  We are receiving word that both Gene Bennett and official Scott James have been removed by ambulance.  We wish both men the best of luck and hope it is nothing serious.  After the break it will be Just Joe taking on Jaime Knoble.

Jaime Knoble pinned Just Joe after a flying somersault neckbreaker in 0:04:02.
Rating: *

Knoble picked up the win in this match.  He hit a version of the Buff Blockbuster to get the win.  After the match Scott Steiner hit the ring and attacked both men.  He then locked both into the Steiner Recliner before leaving.

Roddy Piper made Jeff Jarrett submit to the Sleeper in 0:10:39.
Rating: * 1/4

Roddy Piper made an impact in his WCW debut here.  Jeff Jarrett didn't really get out of the blocks ad Piper was fired up.  Piper wouldn't be denied and he put Jeff to sleep with the Sleeper and got the win.

Curt Hennig pinned Sting with the Hennig Plex in 0:10:28.
Rating: * 1/2

Sting seemed to be ready to take the next step in his career but Hennig stopped that.  Hennig got the win as he hit the Hennig Plex as Sting reentered the ring.

William Regal and Spike Dudley battled to a double countout in 0:10:15.
Rating: *** 1/4
(William Regal retained the WCW United States Title.)

William Regal defended his newly won US title against Spike Dudley.  Spike Dudley seemed like he was ready to win this match when he hit the Acid Drop off the apron.  However Spike injured himself during this and both men got counted out.

Booker T pinned Rhino with the Book End in 0:05:39.
Rating: * 1/4
(Booker T retained the WCW World Title.)

Booker T retained his title in this fight against Rhino.  Rhino did gore Booker but he somehow kicked out.  The end came when Rhino went for a second gore which Booker sidestepped and Rhino hit the turnbuckles.  He turned around right into the Book End and Booker kept his title.
