Nitro kicks off with footage of Masato Tanaka pinning WCW World Champion Jeff Jarrett in an eight man tag match from Thunder. We also see footage of the Ministry forcing Sting to fight Chris Kanyon in a Casket match, and then the Ministry forcing Sting into the casket. We then go to the back where a limo is pulling up. Out steps Hollywood Hogan, Jeff Jarrett and Mike Awesome. From the shadows out come Gene Bennett, Masato Tanaka, Spike Dudley, Booker T and Billy Kidman. Gene: Hollywood, great to see you finally showed up. You know Ted has authorized me to fine people who are late to the building, or give an appropriate punishment. Since you were here earlier, I wrote up the card. Tonight it will be you Jeff Jarrett facing the man that pinned you Thursday night, Masato Tanaka. Also Awesome, you are going to team with The Undertaker to face Spike Dudley and Chris Kanyon. Also your good friend Mikey Whipwreck will be facing Booker T for that US Title. And Kidman is going to face off with Sting. And Hollywood, you are banned from the building, so how about you get back in your limo and get the hell out of here. We then go to the ringside area where Mike Tenay and Tony Schiavone are sitting. Tony: Mike, what main event tonight between Jarrett and Tanaka. Mike: That's right Tony. It will be a great main event and with Tanaka having the momentum I think that he will pick up the win. Tony: What a strong prediction by Mike. Lets get to the ring for our first tag team contest of the night.
Just Joe and Barry Horowitz defeated Too Cool when Horowitz pinned Just Joe and Barry Horowitz picked up a big win over Too Cool. Grandmaster Sexay was dancing and didn't see Just Joe come in and dropkick him over the top rope while Horowitz hit reverse DDT on Scotty for the win. After the match Grandmaster came in and attacked Scotty with a chair and left him a bloody mess. After the break we see Grandmaster with Mean Gene. Gene: Grandmaster Sexay, what you just did makes me sick to my stomach. You turned on long time friend and partner Scotty Too Hotty. Grandmaster: Listen here Gene, my name is Brian Christopher. I am a champion under these stupid clothes and behind this stupid dancing. I was put into this dumbass gimmick back in the WWF because they need a joke team, and we got over. It sure wasn't because of Taylor. Mean Gene: Does this have anything to do with the fact that people cheer the Worm more then they cheer ANYTHING that you do? Christopher: Gene, I am going to pretend I didn't hear that. I was a champion everywhere I went, from Memphis the WWF, and it won't be any different here in WCW Gene! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Mean Gene: What a complete ass.
Triangle Match: The next match was a Triangle match between the Tag Team Champions Kronik, Lo Down and The F.B.I. Kronik came in and once again dominated the tag team scene hitting Lo Down with High Times. They then turned to The F.B.I. While Guido took the Full Nelson Slam, Mamaluke got the Meltdown, and pinned. Big Sal then tried to get into the ring and took a High Times from Kronik before they left the five men laying. We go to break with Kronik leaving the ring with their belts once again. After the break we see footage of the attacks from Regal and Wright on Rection and Traylor over the past few weeks. We then go to the back where Pamela is standing by with Spike Dudley and Chris Kanyon. Pam: Spike, Chris, tonight you two face The Undertaker and Mike Awesome, two men you have major problems with. Pam puts the mic in front of Spike, but he just waves. Kanyon then grabs the mic. Chris: GOOD DAWD, HAVE MERCY! Undertaker, you seem to like to mess with people's heads. Well I don't like it at all. Tonight I team with the giant killer, and together we will make you FEEL, THE, BANG!!
Pam: Lets get to our next match.
William Regal and Alex Wright defeated Ray Traylor and General
Rection when A. Wright pinned Traylor with the Reverse Neckbreaker in 0:08:45. William Regal and Alex Wright started to the ring and the team of Rection and Traylor attacked them on the ramp. In the ring early on Rection and Traylor double teamed Regal with double slams and lariats. Traylor however got distracted by Wright allowing Regal to clip him and make the quick tag. Wright then works on Traylor's knee. Wright went for a missile dropkick, but Traylor moved and Wright hit nothing but mat. Traylor made the quick tag and a brawl broke loose. The ref, Nick Patrick, got knocked down in the brawl. Rection hit a lariat that took both him and Regal over the top rope, while on the inside Traylor took a Reverse Neckbreaker from Wright. The new ref, Scott Armstrong, runs out and makes the count on Traylor giving the Foreign Connection the win. Rection goes into the ring and throws a fit yelling at the ref. Armstrong says he saw the pin and made the count. He tries to leave, but Rection gives him a bodyslam and the Raging Climax Moonsault before helping Traylor to his feet and leaving the ring. We go to the back where we see Mike Awesome and The Undertaker walking to the ring. After the break we see the Undertaker and Mike Awesome enter the ring. Then Spike Dudley and Chris Kanyon charge the ring. The bell rings and we have a war on our hands.
Spike Dudley and Chris Kanyon defeated The Undertaker and Mike
Awesome when Chris Kanyon pinned Undertaker with the Kanyon Cutter in 0:06:48. This match wasn't a tag team match, it was a tornado match. Mike Awesome and Chris Kanyon fought on the outside while on the inside Spike Dudley used his speed against the Undertaker. Mike Awesome and The Undertaker hit a spiked Last Rites on Dudley, but Kanyon broke it up. Kanyon then hit Awesome with a Kanyon Cutter, but Taker broke it up. This allowed Spike Dudley to recover and hit a flying dropkick on Taker, sending him into the ropes, as he rebounded off the ropes Kanyon hit him with a Kanyon Cutter. Awesome tried to make the save, but took an Acid Drop from Dudley. Kanyon made the cover for the pinfall win. After the match Papa Shango, Gangrel and Mikey Whipwreck attacked Kanyon and Dudley. This brought out Booker T, Big Vito and Bret Hart, who chased off the Ministry and Mike Awesome. After the break we see that Stevie Ray is with Booker T, Big Vito and Bret Hart. Stevie: Bret Hart, with your Hart Foundation falling apart, how can you worry about Spike Dudley and Chris Kanyon. Bret: Stevie, the Hart Foundation may be gone, but that doesn't mean I have to forget about people. This man, Big Vito, saved me when I didn't think I had any friends. I was laying in the ring thinking that no one would be out to help me. Then from the back came a man that I had fought days before. I respect this man, as I do your brother Booker T. So tonight Gangrel and Papa Shango, you two are going to face The Excellence of Execution and the Staten Island Express. Vito: That's right Bret, we are going to stop this Ministry cause we don't sweat no one. Booker: All I have to say is this brother, I want these two men to stay in the back, because I am going to do this alone. NOW CAN YOU DIG THAT!! Stevie: Oh yeah, I can dig that.
Out in the ring we see that Mikey Whipwreck is in
the ring awaiting Booker T. His music hits and he runs to the ring. Booker T and Mikey fought a hard fought match, which is because of Mikey turning on Booker several weeks ago. Booker broke out old moves like the Missile Dropkick and the Spinebuster trying to get the win. However, Mikey came back after hitting a low blow. Mikey hit a vicious brainbuster for a near fall. Mikey then went for the Whippersnapper, but Booker countered by shoving Mikey into the ropes, and catching him in the Book End. This brought out Gangrel and Papa Shango from the back, and causing a DQ, meaning Booker won, but didn't get the title. The trio continued their attack on Booker T until Bret and Vito made the save. We go to break with the Ministry on the retreat.
After the break we see Bret Hart and Vito locking
up with Shango and Gangrel.
Big Vito and Bret Hart defeated Gangrel and Papa Shango when B. Hart
made Shango submit to the Sharpshooter in 0:10:59. In a great tag match, Bret and Vito got he win but barely. Early on The Ministry's team had the upper hand with double team moves on Vito. Finally Vito made the tag and Hart was a house of fire hitting both men with vintage Bret Hart moves like the Russian legsweep and backbreakers. Bret went to lock Shango into the Sharpshooter, but Gangrel hit his Impaler DDT, but Vito broke the pin attempt up and hit Gangrel with is own version of the Impaler, the Big Vito Special. Shango tried to drop a leg low on Hart, but Hart countered and locked in the Sharpshooter for the win. We go to break with the Ministry retreating to the back. After the break we see Sting arriving at the building. Billy Kidman catches him in the hall. Kidman: Hey Stinger, you ok man?
Sting looks at Kidman, but it looks like Sting is
actually looking through Kidman. Kidman finally gives up and
starts to leave, and Sting lays him out with a baseball bat.
Sting continues to attack Kidman until officials make the save.
Back in the arena, Rikishi is locking up with another monster, Rhino.
Rikishi pinned Rhino with the Bonzai Drop in 0:05:34. In a match that neither man will write home about, Rikishi got the win after Rhino missed the Gore and hit the ring post. This allowed Rikishi to hit the Bonzai Drop for the pinfall win. We go to break with Rhino goring the ref Mickey Jay. After the break we see Billy Kidman coming to the ring with his ribs taped up. Kidman: You know something folks, sometimes it just doesn't pay to be a nice guy. Earlier tonight I tried to see how Sting is doing with all this stuff involving the Ministry, and he attacked me with a baseball bat. Well Sting, I don't know if you had a problem with me before, or was just trying to do the Undertaker's bidding, but you have a problem now. Get your ass in this ring!
The lights go out and Sting slowly walks to the ring.
Sting pinned Billy Kidman with the Scorpion Death Drop in 0:05:07. Sting came in and Kidman attacked him as he entered the ring. Sting didn't fight back the entire time till the end. Kidman tried everything to get the win, hitting his Spinebuster bomb and then the flying elbow. The end came when Kidman went for the Kid Crusher, but Sting countered and hit the Scorpion Death Drop for the win. Sting began to leave the ring, when the Undertaker appeared on Nitrovision. He just looked at Sting and shook his head yes. Sting then slowly turned back to Kidman, and locked in the Scorpion Death Lock. Kidman screamed in pain as Sting pulled further back, finally officials ran out and broke it up. Sting looked down at Kidman, and then slowly walked to the back to a chorus of boo's.
We come back from break and we see Sting leaving
the arena, in the same shocked look that he has had the entire
night. We now see footage of Owen Hart turning on the Hart
Foundation and Lance Storm Thursday night. In the ring we see
Lance Storm awaiting Owen.
Owen Hart made Lance Storm submit to the Sharpshooter in 0:15:14. In a mat classic, Owen got the win. Early on the two brawled on the floor trying to settle this. However, once in the ring it turned into the classic we all expected. These two men were reversing reverses. Owen went for the Enziguri, but Lance ducked, and went for the Maple Leaf, but Owen countered with a kick off and tried for a monkey flip, which Storm cart wheeled away from. Owen then went for a dropkick, but Storm caught him and hit a slingshot sending Owen over the top rope, but Owen skinned the cat back into the ring. Then end came as Storm tried to hit a Missile Dropkick, but Owen caught him and locked in the Sharpshooter for the win. We go to break with Owen celebrating like he won the WCW Title.
After the break we see Hollywood Hogan promising
Scott Steiner a TV Title Shot here on Nitro. We then go to the
ring where Fit Finlay and Scott Steiner are locking up.
Fit Finlay pinned Scott Steiner with the Tombstone Piledriver in 0:08:31. In the second of three main events, this two tough men brawled all over the place. Early on fellow Foreign Connection member Rikishi came to ringside, which brought out Steiner's running buddy Rhino. Meanwhile, Finlay was on the losing end. The end came when ref Charles Robinson got bumped by Finlay after a suplex by Steiner. This brought in both Rikishi and Rhino. All hell broke loose. Rhino tried to gore Finlay, who sidestepped, and Steiner took the gore. Rikishi then kicked Rhino to the floor, and Finlay hit the Tombstone for the win, and retained his title.
As we go to break we once again see footage of
Masato Tanaka pinning Jeff Jarrett on Thunder.
Jeff Jarrett pinned Masato Tanaka after hitting him with a road sign
in 0:22:13 After the break we see the World Champion locking up with Tanaka. In a great match up, Tanaka came with in inches of winning the title several times. Early on Tanaka hit the Roaring Elbow on Jarrett, but Jarrett got his foot on the rope. Jarrett came back and worked on Tanaka's knee. Jarrett locked in the figure four, but Tanaka fought out. During the figure four, Mike Awesome came to the ringside area. Back in the ring, Jarrett locked in a sleeper hold, trying to soften Tanaka up for the Stroke. On the outside, Mike Awesome was getting harassed by the fans. Mike then grabbed one of the fans and pulled him over the guardrail. He then gave the fan an Awesome Bomb through the announce table. Back in the ring, Tanaka broke free and went to the floor and attacked Awesome. We then see a 'fan' jump the guardrail and throw Jeff Jarrett a road sign. The official, Nick Patrick, goes to the floor and breaks up the fight, but stays on the floor and argues with Awesome. As Tanaka enters the ring, Jarrett nails him with the road sign, nearly bending it in half. Nick Patrick turns around to see Jarrett making the cover and he retains his title. We leave the air with Jarrett and Awesome attacking Tanaka while he is down.
