Thunder comes on the air with footage from Nitro. We see Scott Steiner and Rhino turn on Hollywood Hogan and join up with Vader and attack Hogan. We also see the three being arrested for assault. We see footage of both Ray Traylor and Bret Hart being assaulted by Hugh Morrus and the Undertaker and of Hugh Morrus joining the Ministry. We then go to the announce table where Scott Hudson is with Mike Tenay. Hudson: Welcome to Thunder everyone. We are just ten days away from Souled Out and things are really heating up. Tenay: That is for sure Scott. Already signed for Souled out is that big 10-man battle royal for the newly re-instated Cruiserweight title. Also Big Van Vader faces Hollywood Hogan Scott. Hudson: That and much more. Also signed during the week is Masato Tanaka facing Mikey Whipwreck. If you remember Mikey defeated Masato a few weeks ago, but Mikey was injured during the match. Well the rematch has been signed. Tenay: And right now Masato Tanaka is facing off with former TV Champion Lance Storm. Hudson: Mike, I am getting word that if Lance Storm wins this match he will face Booker T for the TV Title on Nitro.
Lance Storm made Masato Tanaka submit to the Maple Leaf in 0:10:36. In what will probably be the match of the night these two men set the ring on fire. This match saw a little of everything. Lance Storm went to the air early with dropkicks and bodyblocks. Tanaka then took over with more powerful moves like powerslams and lariats. Tanaka seemed to have the match won when he hit a Tornado DDT but Storm somehow kicked out. Tanaka then went for Diamond Dust, which was countered, into a running powerslam by Lance Storm. Storm went for a flying legdrop but Tanaka rolled out of the way. Tanaka whipped Storm into the ropes but Storm reversed it. Storm leapfrogged Tanaka and as Tanaka came back Storm locked in the Maple Leaf. Tanaka fought for almost a minute before finally tapping out. Hudson: WHAT A MATCH! Tenay: This is just another example on why the Cruiserweights are top draws in WCW. Hudson: I understand that Gene Bennett, Big Van Vader, Scott Steiner and Rhino have just showed up. We go to the car park where they are getting out of a limo. From inside the building comes Hollywood Hogan, Paul Wight and Owen Hart. Hogan: I see you guys have been sprung huh? Gene: Hogan, get out of my way, I have a show to run. Hogan: Not tonight Gene, what you have to do is get back in that limo. It seems that WCW didn't sign the release for the building so as the commissioner I did it. That means I own this building tonight. And you are not allowed to be here. So get back in your limo and leave. As for you three, you best have your gear with you because you are in the main event. You three will face my men and the newest member the WCW World Champion Mike Awesome. Now Gene get out. Hudson: What a move by Hollywood to get the upper hand here Mike. Tenay: Hogan seems to have some plan here Scott. Hudson: When we come back the psycho Spike Dudley faces off with Brian Christopher.
Brian Christopher pinned Spike Dudley with the Tennessee Jam in 0:03:50. Spike Dudley once again snapped, but this time it was during the match. Spike went crazy attacking Brian as the match began. Spike hit several high flying moves and got several two counts. Brian came back when he caught Spike with a missile dropkick from the middle rope. Brian then gave Spike a reverse neckbreaker and hit the Tennessee Jam for the win. After the match Spike left yet another man lying after a chair attack. Hudson: Spike Dudley continues on this path of rage Mike. Tenay: I don't know what has gotten into Spike, but someone needs to find out. Hudson: Next we have a tag team match where Bret Hart and Ray Traylor face off with the Ministry's Undertaker and Hugh Morrus. Mean Gene is with Bret and Ray. Mean: Guys, on Nitro Hugh Morrus and the Undertaker left both of you lying. Traylor: Mean Gene, its true that they did leave us laying, but it was with attacks from behind. Tonight those two cowards have to fight us face to face. Hart: Mean Gene I am sick and tired of these attacks by the Undertaker. Week after week men are left knocked out in the ring and I have had enough. Souled Out is in just ten days and I want you in the ring. One on one Undertaker no outside interference. Mean: Bret, Chris Kanyon tried to fight this battle and look at him, is this wise? Hart: Those people out there need a hero to look up to, and I am going to be that hero. Mean: Well Bret, you are the best for the job. Up next that big tag team match.
The Ministry (Hugh Morrus and The Undertaker) defeated Bret Hart and
Ray Traylor when Hugh Morrus pinned B. Hart with the No Laughing
Matter in 0:10:16. The Undertaker and Hugh Morrus were on the way to the ring when Bret and Ray attacked. Bret went right after the Undertaker while Ray and Hugh exchanged rights and lefts. In the ring Hugh and Ray were again exchanging rights when the Undertaker blind sided Ray. The match officially started and it was The Ministry working over Ray Traylor. Tags between Morrus and Taker wore Traylor down. Morrus went for a flying elbow but Traylor moved. Both teams tagged and the match heated up. Bret and Taker tore into each other. Bret got the upperhand and took Taker down with a Russian Legsweep. Bret went for the Sharpshooter and Hugh Morrus broke it up. Traylor came in but was backdropped from the ring. Bret then took Morrus down with a lariat. Bret turned right around into a chokeslam. Taker made the tag and Morrus gave Bret the No Laughing Matter for the win. The Undertaker and Morrus got ready to continue the attack but Traylor made the save with a chair. We go to break with Traylor protecting Bret. After the break Ray Traylor is with Mean Gene. Mean: You wanted this time Ray, go ahead. Traylor: Hugh Morrus, I tried to be a nice guy after you turned on the fans, but you couldn't allow that. You then attack me and now my friend Bret. Well you sold your soul to the devil, and at Souled Out I am going to teach you why not to do that. Mean: Yet another match signed for Souled Out Scott. Hudson: Souled Out continues to grow into a huge show Mike. Tenay: Well since we are talking about Souled Out I have a few more names to add to the Cruiserweight match Scott. Also signed are Spike Dudley and Alex Wright giving up six signed and four to go. I understand also that two of these men will be surprise entries. Hudson: Mike that match almost promises to steal the show. Right now we want to go back to Nitro and show the attack by the Ministry on the Foreign Connection. Fit Finlay and William Regal had just defeated Gangrel and Papa Shango when the Ministry's leader attacked. This brought out Alex Wright for the save. The Undertaker later in the night defeated Alex Wright in one on one action. Tonight we will see eight-man action will take place between the two teams. Right now Mark Madden is with the Foreign Connection. Madden: Rikishi, your group several titles, but that has changed in the past weeks, is this another example of American's keeping you guys down? Rikishi: Listen here Madden, I don't need your kind sticking up for me. We were put into a tag match that we couldn't win. If we won Hogan would have punished us. By losing we lost our pride. Tonight we get a little pride back by defeating the Ministry, something the hero's of WCW can't do. Regal: Listen sunshine, while Alex and I have decided not to tag anymore, I got the toughest man in WCW to team with me. Fit and myself are coming after the tag team titles that I shouldn't have lost in the first place. Madden: The Connection seems ready for a war.
The Ministry (Gangrel, Mortis, Papa Shango and Sting) defeated The match started as a war, but soon became a tag match. There was a lot of double and triple teaming done by both teams. The end saw William Regal lock the Regal Stretch in on Gangrel, which caused an eight-man brawl. Sting broke the hold up and then gave William the Stinger Splash. As Regal stumbled out of the corner Mortis gave him the Flatliner and got the win. The brawl didn't end there though, and from the back out came The Undertaker, Hugh Morrus and the injured Mikey Whipwreck. The numbers were too much for the Connection. We see in the back that both Ray Traylor and Bret Hart have been knocked out. Back in the ring we see total destruction. Mortis gives Rikishi the Flatliner and Sting follows that up with the Scorpion Death Lock. Gangrel and Papa Shango hit a spiked Piledriver on Fit Finlay. Mikey Whipwreck gives Regal a Whippersnapper and then Hugh Morrus hits the No Laughing Matter. Alex Wright takes the Last Rites from the Undertaker. Taker: Bret Hart, you are walking into the lion's den at Souled Out. We have crossed paths before and I have allowed you to continue your career. At Souled Out I am going to take your soul! And you will never rest in peace. The lights suddenly go out. They come back up and the Foreign Connection has been covered in blood. Hudson: Those guys are sick Mike. Tenay: You won't get any arguments out of me about that Scott. They keep getting sicker and sicker. Hudson: Well from one sick act to another. Last week here on Thunder Disqo took a spiked piledriver on a chair. We all expected the worse Mike. Tenay: Well I talked to Disqo yesterday and this is what he said. We go to the video. Tenay: Disqo, last Thursday you were injured at the hands of Jeff Jarrett and Brian Adams during a tag match. Disqo: That's right Mike. After taking a spiked piledriver onto a steel chair I lost all feeling in my legs. Tenay: What have the doctor's been telling you? Disqo: Well I was expecting them to tell me I was paralyzed or at least suffered a broken neck. It is one of the dangers of the sport. However after many tests they are saying it was just a stinger. After two days I regained the feeling again. Tenay: I don't know if you watched Nitro last week, but Jeff Jarrett and Brian Adams had a memorial match in your honor. Disqo: Yeah I say that and it made me sick. It's one thing to injure someone but it's another to make fun of it. The doctor's advised me to take three months off, but I am not going to do it. I am going to return to action on January 28th at Souled Out to face Jeff Jarrett. Tenay: Is that wise Disqo? We all have a lot of laughs at your expense, but none of us want to see you hurt again and you do have a bright career ahead of you. Disqo: That is all true, but at Souled Out Jarrett is going to get his. We go to break.
Lo Down defeated The Mamalukes when D-Lo pinned Vito after a running
power bomb in 0:03:14. We return from break and see the Mamalukes and Lo Down locking up. Lo Down picked up the win in this match as D-Lo took advantage of a missed flying elbow by Vito. D-Lo gave him a running powerbomb for the win. Hudson: Lo Down picked up yet another win here in WCW. They will be in line for a tag title match real soon I think. Tenay: But with teams like the Mamalukes, Scott Steiner and Rhino, Fit Finlay and William Regal and any combination of the Ministry, that is a tough match to get signed. Hudson: Our next match is between two men in that 10-man cruiserweight battle royal as Kidman faces Just Joe.
Billy Kidman pinned Just Joe after a backslide in 0:09:00. Billy Kidman Just Joe once again surprised people on just how close he came to picking up the win this match. Several times it seemed that Joe had the match. He hit a powerslam from the top rope and a picture perfect DDT that both got near falls. Kidman came back and hit a missile dropkick, but came up holding his ankle. He did have enough though to hit the Kid Crusher. However Barry Horowitz, Joe's new manager, distracted the ref. Kidman then went after Horowitz. Kidman swung, but Horowitz ducked and hooked his arms. Joe tried to attack Kidman, but he ducked and Joe nearly hit Barry. Joe backed up right into a backslide for the pinfall. Hudson: Just Joe continues to improve Mike. Tenay: My question is this though Scott, what does Barry Horowitz bring to the table as far as Joe is concerned? Hudson: Who knows Mike. Right now Mean Gene is with Little Guido and Big Sal. Mean: Little Guido, on Nitro you turned on your partner Tony Mamaluke and left him high and dry. You even attacked him after the match. What is your problem? Guido: Listen to me old man, don't you get into my face. I left that little punk Tony because he wasn't Italian enough to be in the F.B.I. Its now just me and Big Sal here. And I am going to throw my name into that cruiserweight match at Souled Out Gene. Mean: Well tonight Guido you go into a one on one match here on Thunder as you face Scott Taylor. Guido: I prove tonight that I am not a joke. Mean: Looks like Guido means business. Up next Guido verse Scott Taylor.
Little Guido Maritato pinned Scott Taylor with the Kiss of Death in 0:05:34. In another cruiserweight match up, Little Guido picked up a big win. Early on Guido looks a little loss without his former tag team partner. However Taylor missed senton and Guido took over. Guido hit a slingshot rocker dropper and nearly got the win. Guido went for the Kiss of Death, but Taylor shoved him off and gave him a powerslam. Taylor then set up for the Worm. As Taylor hopped on one foot Big Sal hooked his leg. Taylor tried to get to Sal and this gave Guido time to recover and hit the Kiss of Death for the win. Hudson: Little Guido just picked up a big win over Scott Taylor. Tenay: And the word I am getting is that not to be out done by his former partner that Tony Mamaluke has also joined the cruiserweight match at Souled Out. Hudson: That match is going to be great Mike. Up next we will see Bryan Clark taking on Jeff Jarrett. Let's see what brought this match about. We see footage of the match between Clark and Disqo against Adams and Jarrett last week. We then see Clark cost Jarrett his match on Nitro and Jarrett doing the same to him.
Jeff Jarrett pinned Bryan Clark with the Stroke in 0:04:20. Jeff Jarrett won this match with a little help from Clark's former partner Clark seemed to have the match won, but was distracted by Adams on the ramp. Jarrett then hit a low blow and gave Clark the Stroke for the win. Hudson: Jarrett got another win, but he is going to be in trouble when he faces Disqo at Souled Out I think. Tenay: Let's go to Mark Madden who is with Booker T. Madden: Booker T, who are you facing tonight? Booker: I don't care who I face tonight Mark. As TV Champion everyone who wants a shot gets a shot. Tony Mamalukes walks in. Tony: Anyone huh Booker? How about you give me a shot at that title? Booker: You want a shot kid, you got it. Madden: Looks like we have a TV Title match next.
Booker T pinned Tony Mamaluke with the Book End in 0:04:08. Booker T dominated most of this match in Mamalukes first singles match. Mamaluke did get in several dropkicks and even hit a flying legdrop, but that was about it for Mamaluke. Mamaluke went for a flying axhandle, but Booker caught him and gave him the Book End for the win. Hudson: Booker T retains his title so it will be Booker and Storm one more time on Nitro Mike. Tenay: That promises to be a show stealer Scott. And up next we will see our big main event.
Mike Awesome, Paul Wight and Owen Hart defeated The main event for the Thunder was another war in the war between the CEO and the commish. These six men hated each other and it showed. With Wight and Hart facing Steiner and Rhino at Souled Out, they were at each other throats the entire time. Meanwhile Gene's right hand man Vader was going toe to toe with the world champ. The end came when Scott Steiner took the Showstopper for Wight. Wight went for the pin, but Vader broke it up and the two went brawled to the floor. Mike Awesome took advantage of this and gave Steiner the Awesome Bomb and got the win. The brawl didn't end there though. It seemed that the Ministry has waged war against all of WCW and they came to the ring in mass. The Undertaker went right after Vader and gave him a huge chokeslam. Sting went after Mike Awesome giving him the Scorpion Death Drop. The other members were all over the other four men. This brought out Bret Hart and Ray Traylor followed by the Foreign Connection. Soon the entire locker room was fighting in the ring. Hudson: It is pure chaos in the ring. Tenay: The Ministry seems to want to end everyone's career here in WCW Scott. Hudson: This war seems to be just starting. For Mike Tenay, Mark Madden, Pamela Paulshock and Mean Gene, I am Scott Hudson. Good night. |
