Ravenhill
Ravenhill is the Ulster Rugby Team's home ground situated in Belfast, and site of the Ulster Branch of the IRFU. Bought in 1923 for 2,300, it was originally to be used as an international ground. A stand was built at a cost of 15,000. The first international rugby match at Ravenhill took place in the 1923-4 season, when Ireland played against England. It was regularly used for international matches until 1954, when they were moved to Dublin's Landsdowne Road.
The capacity of Ravenhill is about 12-14,000. However during the 1998-9 season this was increased temporarily due to requirements by the Heineken Cup organisers for the European Cup semi-final against France's Stade Francais. By adding extra seating the capacity was increased to 20,000 for the crucial match.
