Burning Bright
My soul still lives in its cold season
Darkness spreads but not to you
Like oil on water, you resist.
And you shine for me
But I absorb no light.
You won’t be engulfed by my plight and
my shame
You stay burning like a candle flame
Bright, through the reckless wind
‘But why’? I ask again and again
Because you say you love me and kiss my
cold lips.
Lips soon turning blue
Then what would you do?
Carry on burning bright, for someone
new?
