There are two classes of fuel; Renewable and Non-renewable. Renewable fuels can be replaced in a small amount of time, non-renewable fuels cannot. Non renewable fuels are also called FOSSIL FUELS. This is because the fuels in question are usually made from the bodies of rotting sea creatures.
The main fossil fuels are OIL, NATURAL GAS, COAL and to a lesser extent WOOD. All fossils fuels pollute the ATMOSPHERE when burned, because they give off smoke. Renewable fuels include WATER, ATOMIC, WIND and SOLAR power. These are generated in massive facilities, and are incredibly expensive.
Although they do not pollute the atmosphere, people tend not to use them because they are so costly. Fuels are used everywhere; in rockets, aeroplanes, cars, boilers, tanks, ships and lorries.
The most useful of fuels, OIL and COAL are used to create ELECTRICITY. We use electricity in just about everything we do.
