How do some body parts get to be labeled "obscene"? Having to choose between breasts and feet, I'd rather see a good boob. Besides, we all have them (female's are more enhanced, generally speaking) and most of us at one time or another nursed off of one (or two), so I don't see what the big deal is. Besides, and I mean no offense to Ms. Jackson, but it wasn't that spectacular a boob! And with that metal shield it looked like an exposed Borg from Star Trek.
The problem is, America has had this puritanical phobia about the human body for too long. European TV is repleat with casual nudity and has been for years. In some societies the baring of breasts is an everyday thing; they have no erotic connotation whatsoever. I would hate to see us demystify our love for the female breast, but at the same time I cannot see what all the fuss is about. What the hell; we all got to see Sipowitz's ass in NYPD Blue a few years back, and if anything should have had the power to traumatize a nation, that was it!
Part of the objection was the venue; super bowl halftime was not the place for such a display. Of course, it was squeezed in between ads that showed horses farting in a woman's face, a man getting bitten in the crotch by a dog, a little boy clearing saying "Holy Shit!" after seeing anew Chevy, and ads for medication to battle erectile disfunction, so saying this sudden exposure was in bad taste is a little silly.
This is an election year, and what with debates and ads we are being exposed to a horde of boobs daily. All things considered, I'll take a few good breats shots above them all!
