Gem cottage is a family business. The family has a long tradition and deep roots in the Gem culture of Sri Lanka. The business of cutting Gems was launched in 1986 with three traditional craftsmen. It was literally in a small mud cottage. Hence the name "Gem Cottage"

We have a state of the art in house lapidary with over 50 people cutting and sorting Gem stones for the export market. We also employ over 200 people to cut Gem stones on contract basis.
