Chapter 21: Expected and Unexpected Allies

Outside in the courtyard those who had assaulted the keep were rounding up those remaining members of Andross' army. The Star Fox team saw many they recognized somewhat from their own dimension, many who cheered when they saw Sir Fox and his friends. As they passed by Andross' body, Archer Falco climbed down from his perch on the roof of the church. Sir Fox smiled at him.

"One clear shot, as promised," the vulpine said, and the ranger nodded, seemingly satisfied.

"Never any doubt." He knelt and began to search Andross' body, finding a ring of keys, and a lone key handing from a chain around his neck.

"How did you time the attack so perfectly?" Fox finally asked his 'twin.' "And how did you get here so quickly?"

"The timing was my doing," Lady Krystal replied. "With my gift I could sense where you were, and who was in the church. As to how we got here - "

"That was my doing," came Panther's voice from the right. All looked over to see Leon and Panther approaching, flanking none other than Lord Wolf O'Donnell. Sir Fox politely bowed to Lord Wolf.

"Thank you for your assistance. Truly we couldn't have made it without you." Lord Wolf just nodded, looking the two Foxes over, obviously comparing then before speaking.

"Andross broke the pact. He deserved his fate."

"So innocent blood was spilled," Reverent Peppy said. "Who's?" Skye raised his hand slightly.

"Mine."

"What!" from Fox. Skye chuckled.

"It's quite a story..."
