Chapter 7: Cryptic Messages
The next day passed uneasily None left the apartment, none could relax. But the phone refused to ring. Fox paced back and forth, tense, and all jumped when the mail slid through the mail slot.
"B - boy," laughed Slippy. "We're all a mess, eh." Falco collected the mail.
"Junk, junk, bill, magazine for Slippy, bill, junk - huh?" He turned to Fox. "Fox? It's a letter - from Peppy."
"From Peppy?" He took it and opened it. Inside were two letters. The first one read simply:
Fox, if you get this, then something has happened to me. This is for your eyes only. And before you read this, I want you to go to your family's home. Take someone with you, but go in alone.
"This is strange. He wants me to go to my family's home."
"I'll go with you," offered Krystal.
"Okay. Falco, Slippy, wait here... in case." The two foxes left, and within fifteen minutes were pulling up to the lovely two-story house.
"It's beautiful," complimented Krystal, who had never seen it before.
"Lots of memories here," commented Fox softly. "Good and bad. Didn't think I'd come back here until I was too old to fly. I wonder why Peppy wanted me to come here?"
"Well, I'm sure it's in the letter. Now, I'll wait here. Call if you need me."
"Thanks, Krystal. And keep the doors locked tight. Honk if something happens." Fox took a deep breath, opened the door, and - letter in pocket - went up the walkway and into the past.

Post note: I know, this one's short. But the next part relaly had to be all in one chapter, and it's kinda long to make up for this one.
