Fox was released later that day despite the severity of his injuries, mostly due to his own insistance. As a compromise, his left arm was in a sling, and he was banned from flying for at least a month, until the doctor said different. To make sure, Peppy took charge of Fox's pilot's lisence.
En route home, they stopped off at Skye's apartment to let him get a few things. There was no way Fox was going to let his newly-found brother live anywhere but with the whole gang, But even though Skye had warned him, the younger McCloud was still surprised at the number of clippings Skye had, and for the first time Skye was able to look at the framed article, detailing the death of James McCloud, not with anger, but with love and some regret. Then they gathered some clothes and Skye's contact care items, and drove to the four-bedroom apartment.
They spent the evening charing stories, Fox telling all he remembered about their parents. Skye was for the most part quiet, trying to call up any memories, and trying to forget the past. Everyone knew this, and they gave him his space, while trying to make him feel welcome.
Despite the mixed emotins in the air, all slept peavefully that night. Expecially Krystal, who slipped quietly into Fox's room to snuggle next to him, and Fox who snuggled her back.
A compromise was struck between Skye and the owner of The Mixer later on that week. The owner would drop all charges if he was repaid for the costs of the lost drinks and cleaning the place up and all. It was close, but together they scraped enough credits together to pay the fine without depleating their funds.
Then, right after it was all settled, Fox, Skye, and Peppy took a little car trip.
They drove a bit out of town, to a beutiful grassy field marked with monuments and stones. They parked on the gravel road, got out, and walked. Fox well knew the way. Then, at a large stone, Fox knelt and carefully laid a bouquet of flowers down.
"Hi, mom, dad. It's Fox. Sorry I haven't been here in a while It's been a busy year. Peppy's with me." Peppy's bouquet joined Fox's.
"Hello James, Vixy. I just want to say that Fox has grown up to be a fine pilot, and a fine person. You should be proud. I know I am."
"We brought someone else too." Now Skye knelt, teras in his eyes, and a third bouquet was placed there.
"Hi mom. HI dad. I - I'm finally home."
The End
