Now, for the legalities. I don't own the song "Miracle" sung by Christina Agulara, not do I own Pokemon, as the specific lyrics here are from the Pokemon: The Movie soundtrack. It's just a pretty song that I thought fit Fox and Krystal. And also, I don't own either Fox or Krystal, or any of those other guys. Lastly, there are some things mentioned briefly that might make no sense, but I promise it will later. I had another fanfic in the works, a prelude to this one, but then I lost it and decided instead to do a Tolkien and write the main story before the prequel. Eventually, maybe after this one, I’ll type it up and post it.

Chapter 10: "Miracle"

They waited for nearly an hour, tense, alert. Each one sat so they could see in all directions at once, watching for someone to approach. But nothing happened.

Fox was quiet, thinking. If things went bad, this could be the last night of his life. And unlike his father, he had no one to say certain things for him, if they went unsaid. He decided not to make that mistake.

"Guys, thanks for being such good friends."

“Huh?” All were a bit startled by his sudden remark.

“Just listen. I’ve got some things to say... just in case.” They fell silent. Fox gently shook his head. “We’ve been flying together so long, Falco, Slippy, that I feel like you’re my family. Especially after... after dad died. I still have the CD you guys made to help me get over it.” They chuckled softly. “Without you two, and Peppy, I would’ve probably quit the Academy, maybe just vanished altogether. But you kept me going, and look at where that led.”

“Fox, you’re a great friend too,” Slippy replied. “And a great leader.”

“Which is why you’re gonna can that kinda talk right now. ‘Cuz if you think we’re gonna sit by while this nut tries to kill you, then you’re nuts,” Falco finished. Fox chuckled, then looked at Krystal as the lights dimmed, and slow song began to play.

“Krystal, care to dance?” She smiled.

“I’d love to, Fox.” As the intro began to play, they stepped out onto the dance floor. He wrapped an arm around her waist, took her hand in his, and she put her free hand on his shoulder in a waltz-like post, and they danced, slowly turning and swaying.

Here we are

safe at last

we can breathe a sigh

it seems the storm has passed.

“Fox, is everything okay?”

Through it all, no one knew

that all the tears in heaven

would bring me back to you.

No one I know imagined we would make it.

But it only mattered that we both believed.

“Yes, now.”

You and me, we’re a miracle.

Meant to be and nothing can change it.

Mountains move and oceans part

when they are standing in our way.

You and me, we’re a miracle.

Angels stand watching over us

and Heaven shines upon us every day.

Every time I felt near defeat

you were there for me

on my side completely.

“Krystal...”

You give me strength.

You set me free.

"Yes, Fox?"

This is because of you,

I'm all that I can be.

"I - " Fox gulped slightly.

When I'm with you, the world is ours to reach for.

Together there is nothing we can't do!

"I just wanted to say - "

You and me, we're a miracle.

" - that you - "

Meant to be and nothing can change it.

Mountains move and oceans part

when they are standing in our way.

" - you're very special to me."

You and me, we're a miracle.

Angels stand watching over us.

"What i meant to say is - "

And heaven shines upon us every day.

"Yes?" Krystal looked up at him then, and there, in her beautiful eyes, Fox saw his heart and soul, his present, and his past... and his future.

The chance was so unlikely

that we would ever be.

"I - I love you."

Two stars among the heavens -

Oh Fox - " Her eyes were shining.

Destiny brought you to me!

"I love you too."

You and me, we're a miracle.

Fox pulled her close, her head nestling into the crook of his shoulder and neck, her free hand resting over his heart, his head leaning lovingly against hers, and the world around them ceased to be. They danced among the stars.

Meant to be and nothing can change it.

Mountains move and oceans part

when they are standing in out way.

You and me we're a miracle.

Angels stand watching over us,

and heaven shines upon us every day.

You and me, we're a miracle (miracle)

Fox bent her into a dip.

You and me, we're a miracle (miracle).

And they shared their first kiss.

Miracle...

As te song faded, he gently stood her upright, both a bit starry-eyed, and they made their way back to a smiling Falco and Slippy. Neither commented, just smiled happily for Fox and Krystal. The four sat back down, as the music resumed a fast pace.

"Maybe this guy's not gonna show," commented Falco. But even as he spoke, his expression fell, and Fox heard the click of a switchblade opening.

"Get up, Fox, and face your death." Fox drummed his fingers on the table.

"Wanna take that back, Falco?
