| Kayla Reiley Golde, 8 pounds, 9 ounces, 19 inches long. Was born September 7, 2005 at 7:28 in the morning. She is hooked up to a lot of tubes because she has a condition called Pulmanary Hypertention, which means her lungs are not quite fully developed. This is a rare occurance with full term babies, but is common with premature babies. There are two treatments for this, one is a drug called Servanta, which she was given one dose and she seemed to be ok with that but the second dose Kayla didn't like it. She was then taken to Marquette General and it was decided she needed the other treatment. The other treatment is using Nitrous Oxide which there are only two hospitals close to us that can administer this treatment, Milwaukee Childrens Hospital or Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor was full, so she was flown to Milwaukee last night, Sept. 8. The Nitrous Oxide treatment will open up the chambers of her lungs so oxegen can reach those chambers and help to fully develope her lungs. Barb, Tammy & Emmett will be at Milwaukee for possibly two weeks while she receives this treatment. Please keep Kayla and the rest of her family in your prayers. UPDATE Oct 6, 2005 Kayla is Home! She continues to do very well. |
