Kirkuk
Bombs are killing their people
Blinded by hate they fail to see
The difference between friend and enemy
The chance for peace is fading fast
As twenty more die in a blast.
Just outside of Kirkuk
At a police academy
They were trainees and civilians going home
Fathers, sons, and brothers
Mothers, daughters, sisters
All with families
All with friends
Just outside of Kirkuk
Training to defend their people
Fighting to defend their peace
Upon so many years of hate
A cruel and disasterous culmination their fate
Thirty-six more were hurt
It could have been so many more
There were hundreds there when it blew
It could have been so much worse
Just outside of Kirkuk
Thank Allah it wasn't.
