Heaven's gates have barred me out
Although I scream, pound and shout,
"Let me in or here I'll stand
Until I see the promised land!"
But the saints do not listen
As the dew drops do glisten
On heavenly blades of grass
Upon which angels do pass.
I wish to go to the light
And escape my life, a blight
Spending years in deep darkness
Even longer in sadness.
The fires grow hot on my feet
I have never known such heat.
I hear calls from the devil
Each time, sounding more evil.
But I still refuse to go
I belong inside, I know
So now I'll sit for a while
Feeling just like a small child
