Sources I used to make this trip happen.   CHEAP!!!
Home
Hostelworld.com    -  Very cheap hostels in every city in the world.  The average per room I spent with this source was $7 per person per night.   These are private rooms with bathrooms, and they're clean!  If you want to save money, I suggest going to this website.

LADE - Lineas Aereas del Estado - This airline company is located in Argentina and is very very cheap.  This is the cheapest place I've found for plane tickets. They specialize in local flights to and from any location within Argentina.  The only downside is that they don't have a toll free number, and you can't book flights online; however, you'll more than save enough money on the flight to make up for the money you spend on the international phone call.  It helps if you speak Spanish.  I spent US$70 on a flight from El Calafate to Ushuaia.  Expedia wanted US$255.  I saved $370, given that I bought two tickets. Phone number for tickets is +54-11-5129-9001

GoToLatin.com - This company is excellent!  They do it all!  They can book flights, rental cars, hotels, bus rides, travel by boat, tours and excursions, and give you personal attention.  They are located in Chile, and do have English speaking agents if you need one.  Don't worry!  The call is free; it's a toll free number.  They can work with you over the phone, via email, or with Instant Messenger.  They are not as inexpensive as LADE, but they work throughout South America and can save you money by booking bus trips.  Their toll-free phone number is 1-866-202-2745.

Great Escapes - This company gets all the cheapest rates for U.S to U.S. and U.S. to International locations.  A membership is required.  Expedia, and others like it, charged $2,000 for a flight to Buenos Aires from Portland, Oregon.  They only charged $1,200.  They do rental cars, hotels, and cruises as well.  They do not specialize in South America, but do have pretty good deals down there.

Via Bariloche - This is one of many bus lines in Argentina.  They have hundreds of destinations in Argentina.  I've taken this line before, and these buses are very comfortable.  They are pretty inexpensive as well.  The seats fold out into beds.  The food and drinks are free, and depending on the length of the bus ride, you,ll see one or two movies.

Cruce de Lagos - This is a boat service that runs between San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina and Puerto Montt, Chile.  It traverses through the lakes within the Andes Mountains.

Mendozatravel.com - This webpage is specifically for Mendoza, Argentina.  If you plan to stay in Mendoza, my advice would be to check out this site.  They have excellent, yet inexpensive, hotels and apartments to rent by the day.  There is also an English version of this web page.  They also advertise attractions, tours, and skiing.  This is a must see website for Mendoza.

Crucero del Norte - This is another busline.  Crucero del Norte services Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay.  I've used this bus line and it is very comfortable, inexpensive, and has great service, food, and movies.

Plusmar - I have never taken this bus line, but it is another option for travel in Argentina.  Click here for phone numbers and terminals!

Flecha Bus - I have never taken this bus line, but it is another option for travel in Argentina and Brazil.  Phone number is +54-11-4000-5200.
