Stifled

They had a key to turn the lock,
a lock to lock the door,
a door to keep Strange People out,
and keep the warm air in.

They had a gate to close the fence,
a fence to fence the house,
a house to keep Strange People out,
and keep the warm air in.

They had a town to hold the wall,
a wall to wall the street,
a street to keep Strange People out,
and keep the warm air in.

They had a land to have the state
a state to state the law,
a law to keep Strange People out,
and keep the warm air in.

They had a faith to keep the hope,
a hope to hope the faith,
a faith to keep Strange People out,
and keep the warm air in.

They never met Strange People,
knew not what they were like,
met only those that were like them,
and kept the warm air in.
