Of all the fruits in nature's store
the pear is underrated,
its juicy, green and hard at core
but few are satiated.
The apple is the king, of course,
of that there is no doubt
it is to life and sin the source
and lasts through every drought.
The pear was apple long ago,
as modern man was ape
but through a toss of dice, a throw,
it snowballed out of shape.
Few know that God used pears Up There
for bowling with his mates,
and when he lost and paid his share
he threw it from his gates.
The pear is but a sappy clod
that landed on its head
when down it flew from hand of God
and came to earth stone dead.
