The names in the book were all taken,
his folks (ill-advised) wanted more,
so from birth all his steps became numbered,
for they gave him the name "Two Three Four".
Two Three Four went through life in confusion,
always hearing his name in the air,
in the store, in the streets, on the telly,
he would think he was called everywhere.
In secret we would laugh at his numbers,
in his sleep whisper them in his ear,
and in death we recounted him fondly,
singing Hymn 234 with a tear.
