| JOHN le GYR: Owned property and land at Nunwell, Nr. Sandaker, Isle of Wight. 1275. RICHARD le GYR: Owned land and property at Smalebroke (Smallbrooke), Isle of Wight. 1316 and 1327. ANDREW le GYR: May 1351 held land in 'Villeinage' in Glynde, Sussex. Land was held 'in bondage' to the Waleys estate, William Waleys, Knight, feoffment (indenture) of land to RICHARD GEER and W. Jacobe. It would appear that Richard and his family were peasant tenents in servitutde to the Waleys family. DUFFIELD/GEER knowledge of each other goes back to 1630. John Duffield and his son and heir William Duffield both of Lewes, Sussex, mortgaged a property to DIONES GEEER of Ovingdean. FRANCIS GEERS, Doctor in Physick, inherited by the will of Rev. TIMOTHY GEERS in 1747, an estate in Tewkesbury, Glouc, which was left in turn in 1770 to JAMES GEERS. JAMES GEERS: The Mythe, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. 1755. 1770. MOORE family removed from a house owned by Mr. GEER at Lower Lake, Battle, Sussex, 22/05/1827 EBENEZER GEER: Believed to have been a surgeon or surgeon's assistant in the East India Company's Army and/or the Indian Army, Indian Medical Service. Date 1870-1872 EDGAR GEER: Bengal Medical Service 1880. |
