Sept 20, 2003:. LOW CARB DIET STUFF:.
So, I decided to get my fat ass on the scales again this morning, despite the fact that I know that weighing yourself every day is a silly thing to do and that it would be so exciting if after a week you find you have lost a lot of weight, but finding out today that I had lost another 1.5kg (3.3lb- gee I would love to a pound person now because it would seem so much more!)!!! I have lost a total of 4.5kg. I am so excited.
But want to know something more exciting and absolutly eerie which just came to my attention as I finished writing 1.5kg? I was checking my accounts deciding which bills to pay today only to find that I can pay them all because there is an extra $200 in me account! Oh, WOW!
I have no idea where it came from so I am reluctant to use it, but if you take a look at yesterdays horoscope:
Valid during several weeks: This influence can be financially either good or difficult, depending upon how you handle it. Financial opportunities may come up, but difficulties may arise from your tendency to be extravagant. Often your tastes will be more lavish than your budget can afford. You are especially susceptible to beautiful clothes, jewelry and art objects to beautify your home. This influence can be quite favorable to financial negotiations. You will be able to handle the relationships involved in any transactions to your benefit, for this influence always grants the ability to handle people. Investments made under this influence are usually quite advantageous, especially investments in art or objects of beauty. Again, be careful not to invest money that you need for everyday living:
Activity period from 16 September 2003 until middle of October 2003. (from astro.com)
Thats just, weird and because I read that it makes me more careful about what I will spend the money on. Hence I will use it to pay bills as opposed to getting something that I want. I just want to know who is going to be asking for it back later on. Weird.
And I thought that this was going to be a bad day becasue I couldn't sleep last night because I just couldn' get warm. Hmmm, now I am freaking out. Gotta get ready to go to town. Cheers!

EDUCATE, NOT DISCRIMINATE:.
I am not sure what I think about this.
The state of Arkansas is tackling the rising problem of childhood obesity by testing all 447,000 of its schoolchildren in an ambitious program that has some parents up in arms and some educators warning of logistical problems.Arkansas' program is the nation's first comprehensive statewide effort to identify severely overweight children and teens, and to raise parents' awareness that their children's lifestyles may need to change...
Arkansas' effort begins this school year with a program to calculate each schoolchild's "body mass index"--an indicator of body fat based on height and weight, adjusted for age and sex. Results will be sent to parents next spring, along with educational materials about health risks, in the form of health report cards.
Of course I do not by any means condone childhood obesity- I was a fat kid. I don't like the idea of underweight kids either. But I don't think that a school has the right to tell a parent that their lifestyle needs a change. A schools place is to educate, not discriminate. I think that is what I said about a school for homosexuals. Despite it being soley for gay kids, there is still going to be bullying- their kids!
But weight is a big issue in society and by giving children report cards so that they can feel bad about themselves and be compared to other children, then that is not such a good idea.
Educate, get rid of crappy food from the canteen and no vending machines. That makes more sense. Don't tell parents what they can and cannot do. Schools are becoming too involved in the parenting of children.
And I say this as I sit here on a diet eating a salad.

name: energy
When I was in elementary school I remember being wieghed and stuff in the gym at the begining of the year. We had a whole physical test. But I don't remember anyone makeing a big deal of it or calling it a bad thing. We never had scales in my house so it was the only way I ever knew what I weighed. I don't think its discrimination to tell people that thier kids are unhealthy. They do need to know, and a lot of parents don't know or don't admit it. I'm sure they won't be mean about it.
