AUGUST 19, 2003: TALENTED CHILDREN
Missy is much better; it seemed to be a one off thing. I am however going to have to smother her in cortisone cream in a moment because her eczema is off the charts this morning. She continually sits in front of the heater despite the fact that it is heat that irritates her! She amused them at the cr�che yesterday with her language- "fuck", "shit", "bugger"- were her favourite words. I dare say she didn�t get them from me because the most common four-letter word in my vocabulary is "crap", and I say it a lot, but she doesn�t. I hate hot weather, though it may be easier this year if I succeed in getting my fat butt into gear and lose some more weight, however I am looking forward to it this year. Only for one simple reason, Missy has some absolutely beautiful summer clothes and I cannot wait to put her in some little dresses. Oh, how beautiful she will be. Strangely, she will probably fit into half the clothes she wore last summer! I realize that she could grow up to be anything, and as long as she is happy that is fine. But she has several talents that are shining through at the moment. The first would be drawing. I asked her the other day to draw me a picture of her nanna. I expected it to be a bunch of squiggles and completely undefinable. Instead she sat there with the concentration of someone twice her age and said what she was drawing as she was drawing it. As in she said, �eye� eye� nose�mouth�hair� and proceeded to draw them. The eyes were circles, as was the nose, the mouth was a line and the hair was a jagged line running across the top. If you were to see it without knowing what it was you would quite possibly dismiss it as a random drawing, however, watching her it is easy to picture what she was aiming at.
