My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me I would do well to call on him when making decisions. It seems he was always around in my early years but less and less as time passed by. Today I read his obituary. Please join me in a moment of silence in remembrance, for Common Sense had served us all so well for so many generations.

Common Sense
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucrat ic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable less ons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their spoiled and self-important children. It declined even further when schools were required to get written parental consent to administer Asp irin, sun lotion or a Band-Aid to student s, but were restricted from informing parents when their child became pregnant and skipped class to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses, schools were forbidden to fail students who couldn't read and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a severe beating when home owners were forbidden from using force against an attacker in their own home but the burglar was legally allowed to sue a home owner if he was injured on their property during the commission of the crime.
Common Sense finally died after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was actually hot and, when spilled in her lap while she was trying to drink and drive at the same time, was burned and promptly awarded a huge financial settlement in court.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by four stepbrothers; I Know my Rights, I Am Entitled, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published but with your help it will get "published" via cyberspace! Dave LaBonte (signed) Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register: Dear Editor: So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Islandand other ports of entry. Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home. They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans ev er gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl. And here we are in 2006 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags. And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. (Dead man walkin') Friday, November 17, 2006 �DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD� As of Thursday, November 16, 2006 the�head of the snake� was chopped off. The litigation against my sister, Michele, here now referred to as the defendant, who appeared at the mediation looking worn and haggard, was settled out of court. The estate was settled in a 60/40 split in my favor. All my attorney fees and the cost of the mediation were paid by the defendant, who was required to pay double the principle amount owed on the defendants promissory notes. There are a few loose ends yet to be tied up, such as the money taken by the defendant needs to be replaced to the trust fund before the funds are passed out and a few documents showing certain expenditures by the defendant of my mothers social security benefits where legitimate and there is always a chance of the snake growing back another head but that can be chopped off again if necessary. However, it is my understanding that the mediator, who is a judge, really gave the defendant an ass chewing for not making her monthly payments as promised in the loan. So any obstruction by the defendant at this point would be held in contempt by the court. Hopefully, this will be the end of it and I will never have to deal or see that witch ever again. The judge kept pressing the point that this involved family and there should be some healing. Sunday, September 24, 2006 Subject: SUIT IN FIREMAN�S DEATH SETTLED Well, another member of the �Kohler Clan� has come into a large amount of money. My late cousin�s daughter, Laura, has received several million dollars in a settlement for the death of her husband, who died tragically doing his duty on the job as a fireman. As we all know, no amount of money will ever be enough for the loss to her and the family. I bring this matter up to ask a specific question to my sister Michele. Michele has accused my wife of being a "GOLD DIGGER' because she married me. I personally do not have much to offer in the funds department especially at the time Michele stood in front of my wife wagging her finger at her on that day in the middle of January 2004 calling her a "GOLD DIGGER." However, our mother had a modest trust fund that at that time my wife and I did not know how much it was. If that were not enough, my wife received hate mail from some demented soul. In this letter she was referred to as a two-faced manipulative, controlling opportunist, con-artist with an agenda, keep in mind that I met my wife years before the trust was ever and issue. So my question to my sister is: � WILL YOU BE ABLE TO STAND IN FRONT OF LAURA AND THE MAN SHE IS SEEING OR WILL BE SEEING AND SHAKE YOUR FINGER IN HIS FACE WITH THE SAME ACCUSATIONS BECAUSE HE HAS CHOSEN TO BE WITH HER AND SHE HAS COME INTO THIS MONEY OR WILL YOU HAVE AN ANONYMOUS LETTER SENT TO HIM? She took it upon herself to submit mom�s obit. It was rampant with errors and total lack of the proper etiquette that is used in this medium. First she miss spelled my name (typo?) I think not. My wife�s name was left out, which usually would be put in parenthesis behind my name. An over site you might think. I think not. A memorial arranged at a church that mom left years ago; before she was found incompetent. Finally Michele requested that donations be sent to some dog rescue business that my mother never new existed. Shame on you Michele! I suspect the family and Mom�s friends will see this for what it really is as a pitiful act of passive aggressiveness from a sick individual. You need help and I hope some day you will seek it out. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of American's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, Mexifornia," explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal � was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream. Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'" Here is how they do it," Lamm said: "First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country." History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: "The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy." Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.". Lamm went on: Second, to destroy America, "Invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds. Third, "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: "The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together." Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities." "Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school." "My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population." "My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened the ir liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus Unum" -- From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus'. Instead of the 'Unum,' we will balkanize America as surely as Kosovo." "Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits; make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them." In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said,. "Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book Mexifornia. His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America." There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilati on are growing as we celebrate 'diversity.' American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in. America - take note of California and other states - to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book "1984." In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: "War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and "Ignorance is strength.". Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream. Thought provoking? I worked with Laura's husband, Dave Portwood for many years before I retired from roofing. He often spent many hours helping with his wifes thriving business after putting in a hard days work on a hot roof. It was a 180 mile round trip from his house to a job site and back each day and he still finds time to build candy counters or work on the shops getting them ready for opening day. Our crew often had the pleasure of sampling many of the treats he would bring to work with him from the candy shop. December 29, 2005 The struggle continues with Michele in regard to the Family trust matters. The latest stunt is that she has refused to authorize the release of funds to pay for our mother�s phone and cable TV bill. It is just another monkey wrench of many which she has thrown in to the financial dealings with the trust and will require more attorney fees to resolve the issue. It makes one wonder if she really has her mothers best interest at heart or is it her own selfish agenda to settle a score. She has her back to the wall and finds herself cornered on the Promissory Note issue and the lien against her property has her in a choke hold. Keep digging Michele! The hole is only getting deeper. THE GATE KEEPER November 29, 2005 DFS has contacted me and the allegations that had been leveled at me have been found to be the work of mentally ill individuals who need to be investigated for abuse to their child themselves. This will be accomplished by submitting a call to the State Hot Line and providing details of this disfunctional family and the abuse that Anna has been subjected to and possible molestation by an immediate family member. There is a list of witnesses that will be provided to the Hot Line and passed on to the DFS. The act of revenge by Sam will back fire on him and his family and prove to be a very costly mistake by him and his fat ass wife. Rumor has it Sam would be and has been attracted to a pig if you put lip stick on it. Oink, Oink, to the Gorgoils he has had relations with in and out of the marriage. The Gate Keeper October 25, 2005 This is for the "one" Fan of my Ditch Dog Link: Dear Ditch Dog, A blog is a personal web type journal that is used by the blogger to express their personal thoughts, reviews, news and any other thoughts they may have on any subject they choose. These postings are protected by the blogger's first amendment rights as anyone who has been following the media coverage on this latest fad of blogging would know. My particular blog was recently challenged in court by your "landlord" and she was laughed out of court for her complaints about it. I suggest you discuss her humiliating experience with her. Also you will discover that the surprise visitors have come and gone. They were no threat to anyone and only informed the owner of Michele's Dog Grooming that she is running an illegal business, operating in a non-urban district and must shutdown in 15 days. This may be significant for you in that you may be forced to start paying your rent now that her main source of income will be cut off. If she refuses to comply with the warning there will be charges filed that could lead to fines and possible jail time. Be advised that recent litigation against Michele may jeopardize your current living arrangements. It may be time for you to move to someone else's couch. The Gate Keeper October 6, 2005 RUNNING A BUSINESS ON A STRING THANK GOODNESS THE DOG GROOMING (DITCH DOGS) BUSINESS AND THE ADVANCE (ADVANTAGE)GROUP ARE NOT RESTAURANTS! SIMILAR TECHNIQUES BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO EAT THERE. A timeless lesson on how consultants can make a difference for an organization. Last week, we took some friends out to a new restaurant, and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket. It seemed a little strange. When the busboy brought our water and utensils, I noticed he also had a spoon in his shirt pocket. Then I looked around saw that all the staff had spoons in their pockets. When the waiter came back to serve our soup I asked, "Why the spoon?" "Well, "he explained, "the restaurant's owners hired Andersen Consulting to revamp all our processes. After several months of analysis, they concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil. It represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. If our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift." As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he was able to replace it with his spare. "I'll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of making an extra trip to get it right now." I was impressed. I also noticed that there was a string hanging out of the waiter's fly. Looking around, I noticed that all the waiters had the same string hanging from their flies. So before he walked off, I asked the waiter, "Excuse me, but can you tell me why you have that string right there?" "Oh, certainly!" Then he lowered his voice. "Not everyone is so observant. That consulting firm I mentioned also found out that we can save time in the restroom. By tying this string to the tip of you know what, we can pull it out without touching it and eliminate the need to wash our hands, shortening the time spent in the restroom by 76.39 percent. I asked "After you get it out, how do you put it back?" "Well," he whispered, "I don't know about the others, but I use the spoon." THE GATE KEEPER September 28, 2005 The acts of desperation continue but a simple reference to my attorney nipped the abuse of the State departments put a stop to the process. The use of the State�s complaint departments as a form of harassment is a criminal offense and once the information we have is presented to them the guilty party or parties will be dealt with. The pressure is building on the trustee and her cohorts at each of her desperate acts. I suggest that they start packing up. I understand that there are some large boxes available at the local hardware stores and a dry spot under the 367 bridge. The Gate Keeper SEPTEMBER 27, 2005 NEW DOCUMENTS FOUND RELATING TO TRUST. THEY WERE HIDDEN FROM THIS TRUSTEE BUT NOW HAVE FOUND THE DAY OF LIGHT. THE DOCUMENTS ARE BAD NEWS FOR THE OTHER TRUSTEE AND MAY LEAD TO HER REMOVAL AS CO-TRUSTEE DUE TO FEDUCIARY IRRISPONSABILITY AND POSSIBLE FRAUD IF THE CO-TRUSTEE HAD KNOWLEDGE OF THESE DOCUMENTS AND DID NOT PROVIDE THEM TO THE OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED IN THE FAMILY TRUST AS REQUIRED BY THE TRUST AND STATE STATUTE. THE CO-SUCCESSOR, HER RESIDENCE, BUSINESS AND BOARDER MAY BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER PLACE TO SET UP CAMP. THE PAST DEPTS ARE PAST DUE AND APPARENTLY IT IS THE TRUSTEE'S FINANCIAL POSITIION IS INADEQUATE TO FULLFILL HER OBLIGATION TO THE NOTES THAT SHE IS IN DEFAULT. AS THE GATE KEEPER I ONLY SEE DARK DAYS FOR HER AND HER COHORTS. AS THE GATE KEEPER, I SUGGEST THESE COHORTS AND THE BOARDER LEAVE THE SINKING SHIP LIKE THE RATS THEY ARE. KEEP THE HITS COMING! When the Ditch Dog isn't on guard duty he claims to be in some kind of entertainment field. I've wittnessed some of his work and it is the kind of entertainment that a CLOWN would provide. He attempts to sing but it comes out like a tom cat howling at nignt. His appearance is that of the look of someone who has been shot out of a cannon. That is a show in itself. More later! The Gate Keeper SEPTEMBER 16, 2005 FOR THOSE INTERESTED OR "DITCH DOG" PASS THIS ON: My wife and I had an interesting conversation with the attorney that set up Mom and Dads Trust, Mr. Rubin Beck. He gave us some valuable in formation concerning my sister and the trust. More to come!! BTW! We all were wondering, is the "Ditch Dog" a Scotish Terrior or more of an IRISH SETTER? SEPTEMBER 15, 2005 THE COWARD HAS REVIELED HIMSELF AS THE AUTHOR OF THE HATE MAIL TO MY WIFE. After showing him the letter in question, he became very agitated (the only one to do so of the scores of people I have shown the letter to) his hands began to shake as he denied that he knew anything about it but he would not look me in the eye and when I pointed out that he was shaking upon seeing the letter the derelict alcoholic came after me, warning me that I "BETTER WATCH OUT BOY!" He is apparently a fan of my Blog. So for you "Ditch Dog" there will be more to come on this incident. THE GATE KEEPER SEPTEMBER 12, 2005 PROTECTION ORDER AND JUDGEMENT Case called. Court hears testimony and determines that the allegation of abuse was not proven by the petitioner. FULL ORDER OF PROTECTION DENIED. On Monday, September 12, 2005, my wife and I appeared in The Family Court of St. Louis County, Missouri, Division 40. In this room we were among others involved in the process of adult abuse, those being accused and those defending the accusations. I was there with the support of my wife and a very competent attorney, to defend such allegations. The order was filed by my sister (here in referred to as petitioner) against me based on e-mails, faxes, and post on my blog. I chose a hearing rather then to submit to a settlement that the order would stand for the petitioner and me. We would be restricted from any contact with each other for one year and an appointed party would run the Family Trust as a mediator. At the hearing the petitioner, my attorney and I stood before the judge. He asked the petitioner to tell him in her own words why she filed the order. He asked her for examples of the worst e-mails and blog post she had. My attorney and I did not have to speak a word. The judge through out all her testimony saying that there was no threat to her and that she did not have to view the blog, the faxes were not harassment and the e-mails were not threatening. After the ruling, the petitioner continued to argue with the judge about the different issues of the order and he told her he had already ruled on the matter and she should go through her attorney to answer any of her concerns. In light of all the other cases presented this day, the petitioner�s complaints were viewed by those witnessing her testimony to be laughable. My wife, the attorney and I left the court room with smiles on our faces. Another ploy by the petitioner and her cohorts was thwarted! The Gate Keeper SUIT ON PROMISSORY NOTE FILED AUG. 30, 2005 CASE NO. 05CC-00477 CIRCUIT COURT OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY August 2005 THE PETITION TO FILE SUITE AGAINST RESPONDENT TO COLLECT MONEY OWED IE. PROMISSORY NOTE + INTEREST TO MOM HAS BEEN FILED IN ST. LOUIS CIRCUIT COURT. WE NOW AWAIT THE RESPONDENTS RESONSE TO THE PETITION. ALL OF US WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE ON GOING BATTLE WITH IN THE TRUST AND ESTATE KNOW WHO THIS IS AND IT IS AS ALL THE OTHER PETITIONS A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD AND CAN BE OBTAINED AT THE ST. LOUIS CIRCUIT COURT RECORDS DEPT. THERE HAS BEEN A SUMMUNS ISSUED FOR A PROTECTION ORDER BY THE RESPONDENT IN A VAIN ATTEMPT TO DISTRACT FROM THE PETITION.
