Emily can produce razor sharp bone 'thorns' from any part of her body. These thorns can vary in size and density depending on her needs, becoming up to a foot long or as hard as steel. While they are often used defensively and remain attached, they can also be launched from her body as a projectile.
Born into the home of a teacher and police officer, Emily's life was driven by the public from the start. Her mother was a mutant with pyrokinetic abilities, her father a human. Tolerance was an important idea in the household, despite the fact that her mother kept her abilities hidden.
When Emily was nine years old, her mother's secret came out to an angry and very intolerant public. It wasn't long before she lost her job, and it wasn't much longer after that that she lost her life as well. It was a turning point for Emily, the tolerance her parents had taught her was laughable now.
The next turning point in Emily's life came two years later when she discovered her own mutant powers. Her relationship with her father was already strained, and it became moreso as Emily entered her teen years. She fell in with a bad crowd early on, shoplifting and vandalism were only the tip of the iceberg.
She was in and out of court throughout her teen years, all the while her hatred for humans growing. The same day she turned 18 she left home for District X, where she's been honing her mutant abilities and making a small name for herself.
