Part 1
My brother does not understand.
When he looks into the eyes of the Elves, he sees light and wisdom, and the peace that comes from an immortal life.
That is not what I see. I see weariness and sadness, and a longing to escape from the shores of this land. I know I shall tire of this life soon. I too will long for escape.
My brother never saw the pain in Maglor's eyes, or perhaps he simply ignored it. I never saw the light.
I do not ask that you understand, dear Elrond. Just forgive me for my choice.
