| Welcome to COLLEGE POINT |
|||||||||||||||||
College Point , sits in a bend of the Mississippi where the river turns and flows eastward toward New Orleans. From this point to a point below New Orleans the rivers course is in an easterly direction. College Point is so named because of the point of land formed by this change of flow and the fact that it was the home of the first place for advance learning in the state, Jefferson College. Jefferson College is non-existant now but the grounds and the buildings reamain. It is a retreat house for Marius Brothers. Many great statesmen throughout the south were educated at Jefferson College. Many more have spent time there for solitude and prayer. It was in this small community that Alvin Lambert Sr. was born. He lived there and later moved to Gramercy for Its location to the Colonial Sugar Refinery . In later years he moved back to College Point very near his ancestral home. One of his brothers Ned lives in this ancestral place today 1999. BitsNPieces |
