Where We've Been

EDSON Our Mission Where We've Been Where We're Going EDSON Guest Book

We spent the winter in Florida.  Naples was one of our favorite spots.  The view  from our site (right) was beautiful.  The picture on the left is the beach at Naples Pier.

While staying a month in the Naples area our son Bruce visited us for a week and enjoyed the everglades.  The everglades were very dry in the month of February and amazingly no bugs.  Lots of alligators and birds where ever there was water.

We actually drank from the fountain of youth.  They probably brought the water in!!  The picture to the right is an old fort in St. Augustine, FL.

This is the Cape Hatteras Light House after it was moved several years ago.  It should be safe from the ocean for a while but the whole outer bank is moving further inland with each storm.  The Dunes on the right are the largest on the eastern coast located in Kitty Hawk, NC.  Many people walk these minus their shoes.  What an assortment we could have chosen from...sandals, boots, etc.  The sand dune viewed here is approximately 150 feet high and moves with every storm.  If you like wind, this is the place to visit.  The every day breeze is what most people would call a gale.  Great kite country....Bring heavy string though!!

North Carolina. The first flight by Orville Wright was made here.  Above is a replica of his plane.  If you look closely you can see a man on the lower wing.  The picture to the right is the runway he used.  It was so windy this day that Florence thought she could have taken flight with out a plane.  The perfect spot for the first flight!  The stone marker on the left is where they lifted off and further down there are four markers marking where they landed on that famous day in 1903.  Directly behind the picture of the runway, is Kill Devil Hill as shown in lower right picture.
