USGENWEB - The is the main page for the USGenWeb Project. Supported by volunteers, it is a nationwide project to get as much free genealogy information online as possible. Choose your state, and then county to see what each state/county has available. Because they are all volunteers, each page can be very different with vastly different amounts and types of data. You can find transcribed and searchable census records, transcribed wills and bibles. Civil war data. Marriages, deaths, births, obits., etc. All kinds of great stuff which varies from county to county.
Rootsweb Searches - You've probably already found many of the searches available on Rootsweb. If it's a search related to genealogy, you'll find it at RootsWeb.
GedForum - This is the main page for various forums at Genealogy.com. Forums exist for surnames, states, counties, countries, etc. Just type in a surname (or whatever) in the box and it takes you to the forum for that name where you can easily search the postings for key word matches, and see what other researchers are posting. This is the best forum I've found and is very active.
WORLDCONNECT at Rootsweb.com - Rootsweb has a HUGE database of family trees contributed by private researchers. Go to this main search page to specify what you're looking for. It even recognizes middle names entered.
