GED At WITCC - Social Studies
Social Studies
For information about the
Social Studies test go to the Center for Adult Learning & Educational Credentials site.  There you can also take a mini test that will give you an idea as to what types of questions you see on the Social Studies test.

For study and practice, try one of the following sites:

The New York Times on the Web has a  daily current events quiz.  The questions about the news of the day are multiple choice, and include links to current events articles where the answers can be found.

The
Wisconsin Online Resource Center site includes links to online activities in all the GED study areas.  After linking to the site, click on the "ABE/ESL" button on the left of the screen.  Then choose the button for social studies.

The
Professional Cartoonists Index Teacher's Guide has political cartoons to view and includes a brief explanation of the cartoon.  There are "Questions to Explore" for more in-depth study, as well as Learning Links to additional resources.

To learn more about the Historical Documents that are included as part of the test, check out
Ben's Guide to U.S. Government.

For more information and practice, check out the
McGraw-Hill Online Learning Center.
