Over the years I have worked on numerous music festivals, but this event was unique. The Assemblies of God had purchased over 300 acres of land in order to build a new summer camp for the state of Ohio. While the camp was being constructed, they wanted to bring people to the grounds to show them what was being built. The solution was to throw a huge music festival and invite a list of top name artists to perform. For the kids, there was a giant inflatable games park to keep them entertained.
What made this event a challenge was the fact that the land they had purchased had been farm land for decades, so it had never been used to support a stage, stage roof, generators, food vendors, tents, not to mention thousands of cars and people! After a great deal of planning and design, we managed to pull off a complete major event in the middle of nowhere Ohio. Everyone who came had a great time, and the camp gained the advertising that they so desperately needed.
