When a company like Rock Financial throws a party, they don't just invite a few friends! After purchasing the Cleveland Cavaliers and with them Gund Arena, Rock Financial decided to celebrate their anniversary in style! After inviting five thousand of their employees and families they wanted to do their event the right way. Their request was to throw a party like no other and, working with Star Trax events, we had a lot of fun helping them!
We helped design a broadcast set, and use their own senior management to host a sports telecast throughout the arena, while their party guests enjoyed food and games around the upper concourse. When it was time for the traditional corporate speeches the guests were all invited into a theater that we created at one end of the arena. At the conclusion of the presentation we raised a massive drape that concealed the main act and their entire set. The audience was amazed and thrilled to hear a full concert from the Black Eyed Peas (the band responsible for their company theme music). Following the concert they were all invited to the other side of the arena to hear DJ Scribble and Kid Rock entertain them in a dance club atmosphere. At the end of the night, the name of the arena was changed to reflect the new ownership and is now known in Cleveland as the "Q".
Over 50,000 feet of cable, seven projection screens, nearly 100 intelligent lights, 100+ rigging points, three concert sound rigs, a monster LED wall and a crew of hundreds! Managing an event like this takes careful planning and coordination, especially when you have a professional team needing to practice the next day! But boy...what a party!
