ESPN--Table Tennis with Killerspin Programming Season

This is not the Ping Pong game that you grew up with! This is Table Tennis, and at the top levels of the game! Most of these players have won medals at the Olympics, and they don't play for beans!
Although it is all top notch, and the demands from ESPN are for the best of quality, budgets are just not the same as they are when you shoot for major sports teams. Killerspin needed to have the shoot come in on budget, but needed the quality to meet the demands from ESPN. With some thought and planning I was able to pull together a full production truck and crew within two weeks to outfit this shoot on the second floor of a convention center with no access from that side of the building.
In a single day we shot what amounted to a complete season of table tennis for ESPN. We beat their needed standards, came in under budget, and were even asked to do it again the next year, only this time they asked us to take on the lighting as well. Not bad for a game that we grew up playing in our basement as kids!

The killer spin on this event was that it is also a part of the Arnold Classic, Columbus, Ohio's largest single annual event. After seeing what we did for Table Tennis, we were asked to work on similar broadcast arrangements for Powerlifting and Fencing. Stay tuned to ESPN for a whole new season of "the other" sports!
