Picture Store April 2001
Images from the Isle of Tiree
April has proved a difficult month to get out and about with my camera.  The foot and mouth restrictions are such that it would be totally insensitive to be tramping about over the machair and croft land while at the same time exhorting visitors to Tiree not to do this.  Whether there will be any township-specific pages this month remains to be seen.  Thankfully, there have been some wonderful contributions from readers this month, and the best of them will be featured in this edition of Picture Store over the next few weeks.
Oban Harbour, 11th April 2001.
Saturday 21st April: As we were driving up Scarinish up to Balephetrish my wife Joanne saw these jet streams in the sky and said, "Look - a Saint Andrew's Cross in the Sky!"  Who says Tiree isn't God's country?
Above: this is actually a picture from March and features Mrs Alix Anderson with the gift she received from her colleagues at Tigh a Rudha on the event of her leaving Tiree to her new home in Erskine.  The painting depicts Balephetrish Bay, where Alix and her husband Bob had lived for many years.
Above: Bob Anderson. Alix's husband, keeping my wife, Joanne, entertained at Alix's farewell 'do', held at the Tiree Lodge Hotel.
