1. My grandfather Hector MacPhail was born at Cornaigmore in July 1892 and came to Ontario, Canada, with his family at the age of 11 in 1903.
2. My grandfather;s father was John MacPhail (1867-1940), the only child of Hector MacPhail and Catherine Lamont, who married in Jan 1866. I have found that Hector MacPhail was born around 1822 and was the son of John MacPhail and Flora MacLean. Of course my grandfather, Hector MacPhail (1892-1984) was the first born of his family - other brothers were Archibald, Allan, and Malcom (died in infancy). Sister were Flora Ann, Catherine and Mary Catherine. My grandfather;s father, John MacPhail, married Flora MacLean of Kennovay in Sept 1889 at Tobermory. Flora MacLean was the daughter of Archie MacLean and Mary Campbell. There were many children in this MacLean family and I have made contact with a cousin who resides in New Zealand.

All McPhail children were born at Cornaigmore, Isle of Tiree. My, grandfather Hector was baptised Sep 15 1892 by Rev. Hector MacKinnon(from baptismal certificate). John McPhail was born at Cornaigmore to parents Hector McPhail and Catherine Lamont. Flora MacLean was born at Kenovay, Isle of Tiree to parents Archie MacLean and Mary Campbell. Flora was a twin to Allan MacLean. John McPhail and Flora MacLean were married at Brae Chapel, Tobermory on Sep 26 1889. The McPhail family immigrated to Cromarty, Ontario, Canada in 1903.

One more child was born to John McPhail and wife Flora McLean. Malcolm McPhail was born in Ontario on Aug 20 1903 and died Aug 28 1903, only six weeks after the family arrived in Canada. My grandfather recounts that it was an uneventful trip across.
