Gannon has attacked a far off area of Gamelon! The king has taken a triforce and set out to stop him. He isn't heard from again. Link then sets out to save him... but he too disappears. Who's next in line to try to save the King and Link, and stop Gannon's madness? Why princess Zelda of course. Can she stop him? Maybe. Will we win? Probably. Is this a game worthy of the Zelda title? Absolutely no!

ZELDA: WAND OF GAMELON is one of the first of the CD-i versions of the classic series to appear on the CD-i. Sadly, this title suffers from the worst of problems. Poorly re-thought as a side-scrolling hack & slash game, instead of the top down version from the old NES days, it automatically lost appeal to those of us who were fans of the original game. That alone was not enough to deter our most ardent Zelda fan from trying to solve this "new" looking adventure. Unfortunatly, there was ALOT more to deter us.

The clunky graphics seemed almost child-like in nature. From the simple looking enemies and poor overall visual presentation, to the god awful animated cut-scenes, this game became more and more excruciating to play. While the level backgrounds got alot of attention to cartoonish detail, everything else seemed to have gotten ignored. Leaving it look like the developers were just pushing it out the door as fast as they could. The music seemed to be somewhat reminicent of the old SNES days, not really groundbreaking CD stuff, but not too horrifying either.

However, in-game sound effects, and really poor voice acting really dragged the sound rating right to the ground. See our review of Link: Faces of Evil for our opinion on the "new" way Link acts. Ha! Overall, a title that is only for the hardcore collector to keep on their shelf for looks. Not really to be played, unless you're a die-hard Zelda Fan. A poor effort at best.
