THIS IIIIIIIS JEOPARDYYYYYYYYYYY! Now entering the studio, YOU! The clasic and addictive gameshow Jeopardy comes to CD-i with all the fun of the TV version, plus a quicker interface than previous incarnations. Play against a friend or just play to test your knowledge... or lack there of. WIll you be the best? Will you be the worst? It's all up to you, and Alex Trebec. |
| At first glance, and after having experienced the horrific Sega CD version of this game, I was to say the least.... squemish. Happily, this game proved my hesitation to be un-justified. With the exception of a "live studio audience", this game provides much of the look and feel of the gameshow, right down to it's longtime host. (see right). Graphicly, this game is dead on. With smooth video of Mr. Trebec, and a clean (and overly simple) look to the answer interface. For the most part, it's dead on with the show. |

For those with one controler, but want to play two people (see left) you can choose to play from one controler and one player rings in for both. This is not well thought out as it can (and does... and has) cause fights over who gets to answer. A better idea would have been to make the D-pad ring in for P1 and button 1 or 2 ring in for P2... ah well, that boat has sailed. Still, if you have two controlers or are just playing one player, the rest of the control is dead on. |
| The bane of most Jeopardy players on other systems is, that while they may exceed in trivia, they are somewhat lacking in spelling or speed of typing with the controler. Well, problem solved! Once you start typing, it will show you a series of possible answers that fit with the few first letters you typed. (see right) A definite plus since trying to type "Messopotamia" or "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" in the limited time they gave you on other machines was next to impossible without serious thumb injury. HA! |

Sound, what there is of it, is very good. Its exactly the same as the show, only no audience applause or groan to your answers. Other than that, its good. Trebec even calls you by name, i fyou can find it in their extensive list. (see left and below that we even played as Zelda and Zorba) Overall, Jeopardy is a fun gameshow romp with speedy loading and definite fun. If you're in the mood for a good trivia game, pick this one up. Of all the gameshow games on CD-i, this ranks highest with all of us here at the Collective. |
