Ah, the wonders of History class. Listening to the teacher rattle on in a monotone voice, not giving any conveyance of intrest, emotion or even real depth. Would that there was a CD title that would help you learn, and keep your intrest in historical events. Enter COMPTON'S INTERACTIVE ENCYCLOPEDIA. Is it the cure for the History class blues?? Saddly, no.

Even at it's launch, this title showed it's age. The simplistic interface, while very easy to use, is very un-appealing to the eye, and really looks quite ugly. Made to operate on the CD-i even without the DV cart, the video is quite small, and while does feature some famous video clips, but also some very lame ones. Same with some of the pictures. Quality of offerings is very inconsistent.

One of the only redeeming things in this title is the added TIME MACHINE feature. Travel back in time to see events of a certain area. However, this is usually just text. No pics, no video, no nothing. Very poor execution. Sound is scarce, not all that un-expected. Throughout the "TIME MACHINE" segment, it sounds like audio from the old Atari 2600.

All in all, a very poor & dated offering.
