$18/year, or free for leaders, with Sierra Club membership. Trial memberships are also available, and non-members are welcome on almost all activities.
Become qualified as a leader by being a member, taking First Aid training or having equivalent medical expertise, and being approved by a currently qualified leader on an event that you organize and lead.
When you sign up for an event that requires reservations, be aware that some leaders use waiting lists to intentionally keep people off their trips!
