GCW TV celebrates its one year anniversary with "The Gateway Gauntlet," a 25-minute ironman challenge which started with Light-Heavyweight Champion Diamondback Dingo.  All the GCW Light-Heavyweights were selected at random to face the winner of the previous fall.  At the end of the 25-minute time limit, the person recording the last win in the gauntlet would be the Light-Heavyweight Champion.  Dingo survived two opponents before losing to Billy McNeil, who lost to Ratboy after two wins, who lost to Nikki Strychnine after one win, who lost to the returning Mike Sharona (hiding under a Super Castaldi mask.)  Nikki pulled Sharona out of the ring during Sharona's gauntlet match with Matt, causing Matt to advance via countout.  The Ninja pinned Matt at 24:59 to win the gauntlet and the championship.  The Ninja unmasked to reveal Diamondback Dingo.  The Aussie had outwitted them all to retain the title.

Sugar didn't take long to change her mind.  She goes back to the camp of Jack Adonis by helping the Alaskan Hearthrob win an over-the-top battle royal to decide and new #1 contender for the Heavyweight Strap at GCW's signature card at Aggie's.  Sugar helped Adonis gain the win by helping him eliminate Ryan Ash and Billy McNeil from the battle royal.  Also at "Challenge of Champions," Heavyweight Champion Kevin Sharp retains his title by defeating Light-Heavyweight Champion Diamondback Dingo in GCW's first "Champion vs. Champion" contest.
Also, D'Mon G. defeats Big Bad Ben and Killer Keith Smith in a 3-way street fight.  Earlier in the card, Ben physically assaulted "Stranglehold" host Brian Stull in the ring, which prompted Stull to contact former-ECW star Balls Mahoney and help set-up a match between the two in November.

A drunken Sam Bacardi loses to Tree on GCW TV.  Coach Chuck Farley is not pleased.
SEPTEMBER
In a shocking surprise, Nikki Strychnine wins a 3-way title dance over Kevin Sharp and Jack Adonis to win the GCW Heavyweight Championship at Aggie's on October 26th.  The new era of hatred in GCW begins as Nikki continually screams "The World Is Mine!" post-match.  Also in another shocking development, Coach Chuck Farley abandons Sam Bacardi, and becomes the new manager of the Old School Warriors.  Farley blames Bacardi's unwillingness to his  instructions as the reason behind the break-up.  Also at "Wrestletober," Matt defeats Mike Sharona in a "Tables Match," Diamondback Dingo defeats Billy McNeil to retain the GCW Light-Heavyweight crown, and Delirious defeats Deno Blade and OuTTkasT in a 3-way match.

The heated exhanges continue for Brian Stull and Big Bad Ben continue in October as their verbal threats spill from GCW TV to Stull's "Stranglehold" radio program.

On GCW TV, Ryan Ash imitates Nikki Strychnine, completed with trashcan, a crown of barbed-wire and leather jacket.  Nikki is not amused, and the following week, nails Ash win a pumpkin pinata on television. Also on the same show, Nikki, OutTkasT and Ratboy plant razorblades in apples, intended to harm children on Halloween.
OCTOBER
A busy month for GCW kicks off with "Midwestmania," an top-notch card presented at North County Technical School in Florrisant on November 2nd.  The main event, feuled by weeks of verbal exchanges by Brain Stull and Big Bad Ben, sees Stull's import Balls Mahoney defeat the Syndicate founder in a match that contained brawling, bloodshed and the return of the Human Wrecking Ball Pete Madden.  Ben blames Madden for the loss and asks GCW to re-instate Madden.  GCW complies and sets-up a match between the two the following night.  The second main event saw former ECW superstars Nova and Kid Kash battle eachother in the continuation of long-running indy feud.  Nova defeats Kash at the 15-minute mark.  Also on the card, Nikki Strychnine retains the GCW Heavyweight Title over Kevin Sharp via DQ and Billy McNeil defeats Diamondback Dingo 2-1 in an "Irish Tables Dance."

The next night, GCW unveils its newest creation the "Adults F'N Only" show, an event that contained no rules and was designed for mature audiences only.  The show, held at GCW training facility, became the talk of the local wrestling scene and was heavily attended.  In the main event, Pete Madden lost to Big Bad Ben in his return to GCW in an exploding bardbed wire match.  D'Mon G. earned the respect of the wrestling community, going toe-to-toe with Balls Mahoney in a valiant effort.  Kid Kash and Nova, opponents the night before, team together to battle Ryan Ash and Billy McNeil.  Kash and Nova got the win, but McNeil and Ash put forth a solid effort.  Delirious won a four-way dance over Mike Sharona, Matt and Diamondback Dingo in a match some have described as the "Match of the Year" for GCW in 2000.  Two wrestlers debut at the show, the disco-dancing Cavana Fantastic, and the.....um............Heart Attack Jack.
The success of the show lead to the future scheduling of the popular format.

GCW returned to Aggie's on November 16th.  Nikki Strychnine retained the Heavyweight Championship over Kevin Sharp with the help of Ratboy and OutTkasT.  The Old School Warriors put their hair on the line against Johnny Greenpeace and Sam Bacardi.  They lost, but escaped before the shears could be applied.  Meanwhile, Jack Adonis and Big Bad Ben began a rivalry, as both felt the should be the #1 contender for the Heavyweight Belt.

A long-time dream is finally fulfilled as "The Irish Luchador" Billy McNeil wins the GCW Light-Heavyweight Championship over the Diamondback Dingo at  Aggie's on December14th. The two combatants fought in a greuling "Table, Laddders and Chairs," match, which saw McNeil dive off the balcony of Aggie's onto Dingo. The win for McNeil came at the 20:00 mark after both combatants fought for the belt, which was hung from the ceiling at Aggie's.

On GCW TV, Nikki Strcyhnine ruined XMAS again, as he, OutTkasT and Ratboy destroyed the Super Castaldis, who were at ringside singing "Feliz Navidad" in a musical number.  The Toxic Trio maimed the Mexicans with giant metal candy canes
Later in the show, GCW's first ever "XMAS Bonus Battle Royal" was held, with the winner receiving a brand new color television.  D'Mon G came out the winner in the battle royal, but Nikki Strychnine came out to ruin the moment by picking up the television and smashing it into a million pieces.

DECEMBER
I'd like to say a special thank you to the hard-working men and women of GCW who continue to give all their time, patience and effort in making this promotion so fun to work with.  GCW has been my hobby since May 2000 and I continue to be proud of the achievements this company and its wrestlers earn with every advancing month.  In a wrestling world of buyouts, letdowns and snake oil salesman, it's nice to know that a group of individuals still possess the dream to succeed and are willing to give it their all to make that dream a reality.

Also, a special thanks to the fans of GCW who are the most loyal, most dedicated and most understanding fans that I know.  Their committment to the product is just as important to those who work within the foundation of the group.  Their efforts are always appreciated.

If not for GCW, I'd have no hobby... for I suck at golf.

Here's to a successful 2002,
The Grand Poobah
