The Mets come into this series on the heels of their one-game playoff victory over Philadelphia. After their thrilling finish to win the NL East Crown, the Diamondback will likely prove to be to much for the Mets to overcome.
Offensively, Arizona is led by MVP candidate, OF Brian Giles and surprise C Damian Miller. The Mets offense relies heavily on leadoff hitter, 2B Ray Durham. Durham was the only Met regular to bat over .300 and was 2nd on the team in HR and 3rd in RBI.
Curt Schilling and Miguel Batista headline a veteren rotation for Arizona. Conversely, the Mets will depend on young starters like Josh Beckett, Carlos Silva and Brandon Duckworth. If New York is to advance these young pitchers must grow up fast.
The bullpens seem about even, with a slight edge to the Mets, by the virtue of having greater consistancy at the closer spot. However, if things go as scripted, Arizona won't need much bullpen help for this series.
