The Grove City Gamecocks rugby team was established in 1998, although things started off very treacherous. The Gamecocks only managed to win five games in their first two seasons, going 2-11 in 1998, 3-10 in 1999.

The dense fog of the first 2 years that covered the Gamecocks was finally clearing up. The Gamecocks went on to a 8-4 overall record and finished 4th in the state!

2001 was a year of renovation. The Cocks were pounded with several key injuries, creating a 3-9 overall record in the end. Although their record was in the gutter their competitive spirits kept up. The team still found ways to defeat their rivals of Pickerington twice in the season.

After coming off of a bad painfull season of 3-9, in 2002 the Gamecocks bounced back. Finishing with a 6-6-1 record, the record stood as nothing compared to what the team  really brought out on the field. So many games that the Cocks lost were settled by a Try or less. The team played hard and came together.

The 2003 season was a good one. Finishing with a winning record at 5-4 for the first time since 2000, a lot was accomplished. The Gamecocks defeated Pickerington 32-31 with them finishing 3rd in the state, and 10th in the midwest. And also defeating Westerville B 13-7 with them finishing 7th in the state. Grove City also finished 6th out of 16 teams in the Ohio Rugby Classic in the division 2 boys tournament. Great season this year guys!!

2004 - Last years team was hyped to be one of the biggest years Grove City has had in a long time. With 27 seniors last year, and only 33 total players Grove City had a lot of work to do. Their was a lot of pressure on this years team about winning. About carrying on a tradition that a lot of players all started a few years back. After starting off on a hard 0-5 the team brought it togather. Winning 4 out of their last 5 games and finishing the year out at 4-6. The leaders this year will be back next year and Grove City looks to have a strong team for 2005!

2005 - Last years terrific tournaround started off this years season. Grove City started off on the right foot. Starting off the season at 4-0 before meeting the toughest opponent they had to face all year, the Worms of Westerville A. The Gamecocks were led by several key seniors. The team came out and finished out the 2005 season with a 7-3 overall record. Which became the second best overall record Grove City has ever had (first being 8-4 in 2000 and placing 4th in the State). Great year this year guys and good luck to all the seniors who are off to college!
