Not a pretty year.  Toward the end of the season my goal was to avoid going from first to worst.

My first win coincided with the Giants first trip to the Series in thirteen years.  One out of two ain't bad.

Well, it's all over and it certainly didn't go as planned.  I finally learned my lesson about the importance of pitching only to have my first-round draft choice (a pitcher) spend more time watching the game than I did.

My Public League
It seems I didn't really learn my lesson from last year.  Although I paid much more attention to pitching in the draft and throughout the season, the results were still miserable.  I did learn, however that there are two categories of pitchers: Pedro Martinez and everyone else. At least I didn't let my father beat me (We ended in a dead tie.)
Well 4 out of 12 isn't bad but up until the last week of the season, I still had a shot at second.  Again, pitching was the culprit.

1999 Season Results

This was my first year playing fantasy baseball.  I had two teams: My public league and my private league (The Stick League).  The public was comprised of a random collection of people throughout the U.S.  The Stick League I created and then invited some of my friends-- who live here in L.A. and across the country-- to join.   (See- the Internet is more than just great pornography.)  The results:
The Stick League
My Public League
I finsished 3rd in the league with 64 total points (out of 100.)  The mistake I made here was focusing too much on hitting during the draft and not landing any decent starters.  (42 of my 64 points came from hitting.  Next year it will be different.
I finished a very close second overall.  I ended up with 55.5 points and my friend ended up with 56.5 (out of 72.)  If it wasn't for a late season shutout I might have had him.
