Tornados inside the DC Beltway- only one death reported- but it was in ANNANDALE!

power lines down, signals out
Still under a tornado watch until 8 PM
Fairfax county schools had to HOLD the students from being released for 30 minutes, and now the school busses are running up to 90 minutes behind schedule.
Trees and branches down in the roadway
Power lines down across the tracks of the metro orange line, so trains have to stop at West Falls Church station

Confirmed tornado in Chesapeake Beach- the roof was blown off a restaurant

Wednesday, June 4, 2008, Emergency Announcement: Wednesday, June 4, 2008, Emergency Announcement update as of 4:40 PM: Because of a tornado warning, students were kept in schools beginning about 2:55 PM. The warning was lifted about 3:30 PM. Students have been released. Please be patient with FCPS transportation, buses will be delayed one and one half hours, or more due to road closures. If you're going to an after-school or evening activity, please check the school's web site, because some are without power. (Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia)
