I found the photo above on Flickr and added it to my favorites there. It shows the expanding gas cloud of comet Holmes and its motion against the background stars of Perseus. In the past several days, the comet's tail has become visible, and had a minor outburst/detachment event. Pay attention to Spaceweather.com for more announcements and alerts(!).
