There are already a bunch of amazing photos of Comet Holmes on the Spaceweather.com comet gallery page...

... but that is not why I am writing. Perhaps the most amazing picture ever was taken yesterday as the space shuttle separated from the international space station...

In this picture you see the Pleiades to the lower left, the track made by the motion of the shuttle and ISS, and to the right of center of the picture, amid the stars of Perseus, just below the line of the track of the shuttle, comet Holmes appears as bright as the other two stars that make a little triangle. This is approximately how the comet would look to you with the naked eye if you went outside last night as I did.
