| Grant Co OBITS I Mildred Susan (Schell) Inskeep, 87 of Medley, died Monday November 05, 2001 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland. She had been a resident of Morgan Manor, Westernport, Maryland since August. Born June 26, 1914, in Medley, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Thornton and Lillie Otha (Lewis) Schell. She was also preceded in death my her husband, William Inskeep, whom she married October 19, 1945; two brothers, Harry L. Schell and Joseph H. Schell Sr. and one sister, Nellie Jane Shaffer. Mrs. Inskeep attended Petersburg High School and graduated from St. John�s Academy in Petersburg. She graduated from St. John�s academy Junior College and Fairmont State College. She also completed numerous classes through Shepherd College and West Virginia University. During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Department of Health in Washington, D.C. she was employed by the Grant County Board of Education as an elementary school teacher for over 30 years, having retired in 1971. She later served on the Brant County Board of Education. As a second career, she served at the postmistress at Medley from 1980-1996. She was a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, the Petersburg Garden club, Business and Professional Women�s Club, Lahmansville. Homemakers Club, Grant County Retired Teachers Association and the West Virginia Retired Post masters. She is survived by one son, Colonel William Inskeep of Rockville, Maryland; one daughter, Susan (Inskeep) Gray of Burke, Virginia; one sister, Ada Mae Hodgson of Satellite Beach, Florida; five grandchildren, Thomas S. Gray of Orlando, Florida, Andrew T. Gray of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Emily S. Gray, Sarah I. Gray and Rebecca D. Gray, all of Burke and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Thursday afternoon, at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with Mark Keith Shaffer officiating. Interment was in the Lahmasville Cemetery, Lahmansville. Memorials may be made to the Grant County public Library or the Grant County Historical Society, both of Petersburg. Arrangements were under the direction of the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, WV ******************************************************************************************* William Inskeep, 79 of Medley, died Sunday, December 01, 1996 at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, Born June 19, 1917, at Martin, he was the son of the late Isaac VanMeter and Emma Virginia (Strother) Inskeep. He was also preceded in death my one brother and one sister. Mr. Inskeep was a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church and the Session of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, member and past president of the Petersburg Kiwanis Club, member of the Farm Bureau. He was a graduate of Petersburg High School and Strayer Business College. He worked for the Washington Evening Star, retired from the West Virginia Department of Highway and owned and operated his own farm. Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Schell) Inskeep of Medley; one son, Col. William Inskeep II of Rockville, Maryland; one daughter, Susan Inskeep Gray of Burke, Virginia; and five grandchildren. Thomas, Andrew, Emily, Rebecca and Sarah Gray, all of Burke. Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Donald G. Scofield officiating. Interment was in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
