Deed: James Williams to Elijah Warfield

This indenture, made the 21st day of August in the year of our Lord 1837 between James Williams and Eliza, his wife of the County of Hardy, state of Virginia, of the one part and Elijah Warfield of the County a foreword of the other part�Witnesseth that the said James Williams and Eliza his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of thirty five dollars current money of Virginia, to them by the said Elijah Warfield in hand paid the receipt whereof the said James Williams and Elijah his wife do hereby acknowledge, have granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these present do grant bargain  sell and convey unto the said Elijah Warfield his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid containing one hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less, and bounded as follows.  Beginning at three white oaks corner to Paul Hagerty thence with said line 85 E. 94 poles to a white oak thence south 66 East 30 poles to a white oak thence south 84 East 40 poles to two white oaks thence same course continues in all 50 poles to Scotts line thence with the same North 18 East 95 poles to two white oaks Scotts and David George divisions corner thence with Georges line North 79 West 215 poles to Georges corner thence South 23 West 95 poles to three hickory and three chestnut oaks thence South 23 West 95 poles to three hickory and three chestnut oaks thence South 60 East 36 poles to the Beginning.  To have and to hold the said had a parcel of land, with the appendences thereto belonging to him the said Elijah Warfield his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use and behalf of the said Elijah Warfield his heirs and assigns foresaid.  And the said James Williams and Elijah his for themselves their heirs executors and administrators do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Elijah Warfiled his heirs and assigns that they the said James Williams and Eliza Williams his wife and their heirs the said tract or parcel of land with its appendences unto him the said Elijah Warfield his heirs and assigns against them the said James Williams and Eliza his wife and their heirs shall and will by these present foresee warrant and defense-   In witness whereof the said James William and Eliza his  have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day & year above written.  Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of

Hardy County Court
We John D. Miles and Jos Williams justice of the peace in the County aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby certify that James Williams a party to a certain deed, bearing date on the day of August 1837 and knowledged the same to he is act and deed, and desired us to certify the said knowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court of hardy in order that the said deed may be recorded.  Given under our hands and seals this 21 day of August 1837
