| Will of Jonathan Keplinger
I Jonathan Keplinger, of the county of Grant, state of West Virginia at my residence and being of sound mind, do make this my last will. I give, devise and bequeath my estate and property, real and personal, as follows that is to say, after paying my funeral and burial expenses and Fifty Dollars ($50) to Mary C. Turner, for which the said Mary C. Turner holds a note against me. First, I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Elizabeth E. Keplinger, the whole of a certain tract of land containing 71 acres, more or less, adjoing the lands of Martin Keplinger and others, and being mostly in timber. To have to hold during her natural life, and at her death to be equally divided among all my children, namely: Nettie L., Walter C., Olie E., Stanley, Robert and Mary Susanna Keplinger. Also another tract of 86 acres known as the Lentz farm and as my residence, adjoing the lands of Moses Keplinger and others I give, devise and bequeath the same to my beloved wife, Elizabaeth E. Keplinger, to have during her natural life, provided she remains my widow, if she marries, she forfeits all rights to the above described lands, and at her death to be equally divided among or between all my children as above named. Secondly, I bequeath that my executor as hereinafter is appointed sell at public or private sale a certain black mare two years old this spring and apply the proceeds to the payment of $75 yet due on the purchase of my home land of 86 acres, and the residue thereof to be applied to the expenses of administering on my estate. Thirdly, I give, devise and bequeath further that all my personal effects (except what is above mentioned) granis, meat to be kept in the family for the use and support thereof, and that no more of my personal effects be sold than is necessary to meet the expenses hereunto attached. Fourthly, I appoint A.A. Parks as my Executor of my last will and that he enter upon his duties as soon after the opening of this will as the law will permit. In witness whereof I have signed and sealed and declared this instrument as my last will at my residence on the 7th day of March 1891. This day the last will and testament of Jonathan Keplinger deceased was proved by the oaths of G.P. Mason and Charles H. Feaster of the subscribing witness thereto and is ordered to be recorded.
